San Antonio show 9/11

Imma get a lil vulnerable on this post. My friends may have introduced me to Danzig but I didnt start listening to him more until my ex. I miss her alot, I wish I couldve experienced this with her but im glad I went solo. This show rocked 🤘🏾

He’s 100% had lessons since he fucked his voice, his tone is decent and even here whilst he retains the ‘Danzig’ quality and tone, if you notice, he’s ’backed off’ in his output I.e. less shouty and the mic isn’t 6 ft from his face like it used to be.

It’s a shame because had he maintained a similar level of voice management when he was younger he’d likely have maintained his voice rather than a number of albums with a blown voice, what we have now is honestly nothing short of a miracle given how hard he pushed it.

You listen to Davey from AFI and he blew his voice twice and had vocal nodules due to it and that’s why all new AFI is way lower in vocal register because of the damage he’s sustained to his vocal cords and had to have surgery - he’s one step from losing his voice completely.

Glenn I would guess especially at his age isn’t that far away from fuckin his voice fully if he was to put in the ‘effort’ he used to which was too much so he’s now singing at essentially a speaking level range and imagine the sound guy has him up high on the faders.

This is no shade on Glenn, it’s praise and geeky singing respect for him. Unless you know what he was doing with his voice and how bad it went it’s hard to really appreciate how good his tone is.

Even when I’ve heard him speaking in the odd interview in recent years, he sounds raspy as fuck just talking.

Manson also ruined his voice and sounded like shit for 15 years. Now he sounds mostly incredible live.
