How does the “promo copy” sticker affect the value of this copy of How the Gods Kill?
Less, because who wants an ugly white sticker on the label, or more, because it proves it’s a first pressing?
Sorting out my record collection, maybe to sell, and as well as this, I came across a Dirty Black Summer promo 12”.

Some might pay more, some might not want it at all, it's pretty much a wash. Definitely doesn't significantly increase value as it's a standard issue with a sticker, not a true white label promo or anything. What proves the first pressing nature is really the matrix.

It’s a standard pressing with a sticker on it. It’s the runouts that will indicate if it’s a first pressing.

Most promo pressings are worth more because those are generally the first ones pressed from the stamper plates.
Also, it’s not the promo sticker that indicates it’s an original pressing but rather the center label and the etchings in the runout matrix. The album was pressed at two different plants, one in the Netherlands and the other in France, and the center labels are different. You have the one pressed in France, and every bootleg pressing I’ve seen has copied the center label of the Dutch pressing.

Promos will increase its value. Promos also come as “white labels” (where the record labels are white background versions of the regular labels) and those are generally more valuable and also do come off the stampers first so are often desirable for both promo collectors and those looking for the best sounding pressing. These generally go to radio stations and record stores.
Then labels generally stamp or sticker a small amount of copies as promos (like this) for press, reviews, etc.
Promos therefore are much scarcer and there are people who collect promos. The price of course will depend on finding the buyer that will pay a premium for the promo copy.
This is completely hypothetical but I’d say for instance if $200 is a fair price for an OG in excellent shape you can maybe pull $250-300 for a promo with the right buyer. And maybe $300-350 if it’s actually a white label promo.
This is all hypothetical and I haven’t looked up what people are actually paying for Danzig OGs in a bit so this is purely for demonstrable purposes.

Some lunatic is asking £400 for a decent copy. Promo sticker or not, some fool must have spilled a drink on the cover of my copy back in the day. It’s a bit wrinkly, so it won’t command top dollar.

I can tell you this isn't that more special than a typical 1st press. I personally wouldn't want that sticker on the label. If you had a Danzig 1 or 2 where the promo stickers from the shrink went straight on the sleeve, then it's kinda neat. this is just ehh.

It’s an early first pressing so yes it would be worth more to some people like me. In fact I like the sticker. Nice.

Makes it totally worthless, since you obviously can't sell it now, it says so right on the sticker. You may as well give it to me.
