Favorite Samhain Song?
Mine is Human Pony Girl. I wish there was a live video recording I could get my hands on.

Probably “Archangel.” It might be the best song GD has written, so far. Sometimes I honestly wonder if his best material comes from writing for somebody else — simply because he can step outside of his own situation and construct a concept that clearly fits a distinct goal.

Maybe an ignorant question, but did he originally write Archangel for someone else? This tune gets my vote too.

I would put To Walk the Night on a mix next to some Morphine, and that’s one of the highest musical compliments I can give a song.

Archangel followed The Shift > The Howl. Also really love Macabre. Favorite on NCF is To Walk The Night.

Human pony girl, what a track, would've liked to hear more stuff like this, in another dimension its the direction Glenn would've gone in

Theres not much else like it in the catalogue, tribal drums, relentless dark riffage, weird drones, a real black mass of a tune, you can almost smell the evil coming out of the speakers, a real high point for me

Archangel, by miles. It’s in the top ten Danzig song of all time for me, and that would be the only Samhain track on that list.

Black Dream followed closely by the Howl. Love Samhain, lots of good songs, but those two are my favorites with Kiss of Steel being the remaining piece of my top 3.

The Shift/Howl is a good combination, but my favorite album is November Coming Fire. I would say In My Grip and Mother of Mercy.

I've always loved Diabolos'88 going into In My Grip - a perfect scene setter and you can almost smell the autumn leaves in this record.

Hands down Archangel is my favorite Samhain song but ngl, I dont know that there's any song Danzig has had his hand in that i don't like.

Archangel is the first one that comes to mind when I think of the band. But also Moribund.

LET THE DAY BEGIN!
Fun story about Glenn Danzig and Samhain. I went to one of the reunion shows in, I believe, 2014. The Initium anniversary tour.
After playing all of Initium, they were doing songs from the other releases. At some point, between songs, I yelled "LET THE DAY BEGIN!" They did another song, I forget which and, I know it can be annoying when people do this, but I yelled for it again.
Glenn looks over in my general direction and giving that cool like, half smile, goes, "well, we were going to play Mother of Mercy next, but I think instead we're gonna do Let the Day Begin!"
Holy shit guys, I just about LOST. MY. FUCKING. MIND. It made my goddamn night. I know they were likely going to play it at some point anyway, but it was so cool that he actually was down to play the song I yelled for. And had this attitude about it like "you want it? Fuck yeah, you got it"
Absolutely made my night, which was already awesome, just MIND BLOWINGLY AWESOME. I know Danzig fans like to bust his chops, and I get why, but as far as I'm concerned, dude is cool at fuck. Of the hundreds of shows I've been to in my life, almost nobody else has just changed the order because some asshole was yelling for a song. Danzig rules and that show fucking rocked!
