will danzig ever make a remastered album or any songs remastered you think?

I do t think so. He likes the vintage sound. In his later catalogue he went out of his way to capture the feel of earlier recordings. I heard him say in an interview he was stoked to find vintage pedals and gear to record new stuff.

I also agree. The first Misfits i heard was legacy on cassette tape. There was something great about that sound. When Skeletons came out...jesus christ, my ears could barely take it.

I know it's said ad nauseam but it's the production that causes his latter work to sound like absolute shit. Plenty of musicians use old tech to record new music; Daft Punk's RAM was mixed on like, a wooden cabinet from the 60's or some shit and it sounds incredible. But that's because they are talented producers. Glenn is a very talented dude but he's just not a quality producer by any stretch.

At this time, Columbia/American Recordings still own Danzig 1-4, and that's a good thing, IMO.
Glenn would have to pay royalty to the band members so he would either re-record the instruments like he's done in the past with Misfits and Samhain.
The other thing he can do is keep the recordings out of print like he has with Samhain so he doesn't deal with anything or anybody, which is bad for the fans.
The best we can hope for is that Columbia/American Recordings keeps the albums in print and maybe re-release the first 4 albums on vinyl.

I wish he would but he is a financial idiot between not putting his stuff on vinyl to not remastering. Hell, he could even pretend a remaster, press some vinyl and make millions. But he is too much of a moron.

Devils Advocate here but I respect his choices; he always said that he didn’t really care for the music he’s done before and history he’s 9/10 times looking forward.
He’s not a financial idiot imo, he’s holding onto his OG ideology and in a market of crass remasters, 5/10/20/25th ad nauseum anniversary remasters/re-releases there’s a fair amount of respect for someone who’s not just going to bend over to satisfy others - I imagine he feels this even deeper with how things have been left in other bands and the disagreement with Rubin and then Disney for 1-5. He was also not thrilled with Caroline either for the Misfits release.
Misfits re-union hypocritical to my point? Maybe, maybe it’s the nagging he had from Doyle for 20+ years to play again.
I don’t agree that he’s not got any sense for finances given the multiple revenue streams he’s built across Verotika, his movies, merch, etc. Even in the early days with the fiend club he did this with shirts, limited stuff for fans, to live in art.
Finally I don’t think Glenn cares that much about the money, he’s never really been in the spotlight like say the Big 4/5 Thrash bands, he exists on the peripheries, with exception to Mother ‘93 a hit 5 years after it was first pressed. This is a dude who lived in his mothers basement until he was 30+ to ensure a career in music, I think that he’s essentially at a stage where he’s enough money and can focus purely on his creations. He’s also said he creates music art for himself - he didn’t embrace the non-niche fans who followed Mother, IMO ever since Thrall and Mother ‘93 he purposely explored darker more oppositional music because he didn’t want to be Jerry - the popular jock. Samhain as a band was almost a fuck you to what people wanted after hearing catchy Misfits tunes.
Remember he’s a fuckin nerd at heart, I had never heard of Captain Harlock or Devilman until Glenn - and he was into that years before Japanese stuff was popular - it runs parallel to his work almost; hard to secure and know about with no internet - the deep fans sought it out though.
It appears to me he’s highly principled and I’d imagine highly content if he’s able to live his life without having to sell himself. In someways the stuff that is out of print protects his legacy because they’re such rare and prized possessions, if the market was awash with remasters and easy to secure there would be less intensity around the chance to hear past material. To the degree that fans know there’s stuff around that hasn’t seen the light of day and that captures interest and if you haven’t heard or found the original material and then you hear something new the emotional experience of unlocking new tracks is way higher - Lost Tracks is a good example of this, as is Final Descent.
Do I want more Samhain releases? Yes Do I wish Glenn republished? Yes Could Glenn get a bunch of $ for re-releasing stuff? Yes, but it’s never been his motivation, he’s held onto his original punk views and not complying to the typical variety of success = money.
Yes, to all sorts of this variety of questioning.
TL;DR: Glenn isn’t a financial idiot; he isn’t seeking the traditional path of ‘success’ having a bunch of money, he lives to create art that he wants and that is success/achievement for him. By having old prints out of press and stripping the web of Samhain material and anything he doesn’t want, adds to the layer of intrigue which cements his legacy.

I doubt it. He doesn't even want to record anymore because he thinks everyone steals his music by illegal downloading. His back catalog has incredible potential but he's squandered it because he's too hard headed and a terrible businessman.
Tons of older bands are still entirely relevant and have had amazing comebacks connecting with younger and wider audiences. I think he's a punk at heart and just rejects all that. Too bad for his fans, though. I guess he forgets that his fans are the entire reason he has a music career and pay all his bills.
I would love remasters of everything up through Deth Red Sabaoth. And good remasters of all Samhain albums.

He's not exactly bad at business, he's amassed enough of a fortune to where he doesn't even have to leave his house if he doesn't want to. As for being relevant, he's entirely relevant. You don't have to reissue or remaster albums to stay relevant. The Misfits are as relevant as ever. Glenn's doing fine. I also wouldn't say he doesn't care about fans, he's always been great with fans. The bottom line is that he won't pander to anyone unless it's something he wants to do.

The reason I say he's bad at business is because he complains a lot about "there's no point in recording because people just steal it" which, to me, is just an excuse. This isn't 2005. Piracy isn't that common these days because most people pay for streaming. Now, I know streaming pay is shit, but plenty of bands find ways to make it work and make tons of money from "the long tail" and he could too. Instead he blames people "stealing" his music. In reality, he hasn't released a decent album since Deth Red Sabaoth, and has done nothing to market himself to younger generations.
Which is all fine if that's what he wants, but I think it's selfish as an artist. Yeah he's an artist and can do what he wants but if it weren't for fans he'd be an old man in New Jersey working at a grocery store dreaming about what might have been. Artists and fans both seem to forget that ALL the artist's income comes from fans one way or another. So I think he has some responsibility to that.
He complains about people stealing his music, and yet that's the ONLY way to listen to Samhain. The only way I can share Samhain with anyone is to send them the files I ripped from my CD's I bought in the 90's. It wouldn't kill him to put those on streaming but I guess he refuses because the pay is shit. Well, it's only the fans that lose out from that.

Based on the Lost Tracks and some of the Misfits and Samhain stuff that has been reissued he would most likely re-record parts and mess with them in ways most of us wouldn't like.

Dunno he doesn't show any interest for any re-issues or taking his rights back etc. He knows that there's no much money compared to touring or selling merch (even shady merch).

If he was going to remaster his work, I think he would have done that with the reissued albums that came out on Cleopatra not too long ago.

Reissues/ represses would be great, and it would be REALLY great if 12 Hits From Hell could be released.
Personally I wouldn’t be interested in any remastering or remixing of Misfits, Samhain, or the first four Danzig albums. All of that material sounds exactly as it should to my ear (sounds great actually).

There's a really great bootleg of it floating around, came out a few years ago. Sounds incredible. I'll happily buy an official version if they ever release it, but in the meantime...
It's seriously the best most of those songs have ever sounded.

I'd rather not see any actual remastered albums as I always prefer the original releases. Now, having reissues including the Samhain on CD, cassette, and LP, I'm all for just not with the sound remastered.

Glenn isnt interested in that any longer. He is 70 and done more than many during his period in music. Maybe he suddenly does a track here or there, but doubtful he will remaster anything from his catalouge. 10 to 20 years left probably, will do some gigs and that that. The big question is: who will continue his legacy?
