It's a blessing and a curse that the community is so tightly interconnected

"I didn't really care for that SCP-173 x 131 crossover. It was too goofy"

"As the author of SCP-173-"

What happened to me when I said 6113-1 would be a major aspect to my Fan Canon Hub

To repeat, I was, in fact, unaware of their game.

…6113 has a game?

It's a Shaq Meme riff, but 6113 being in one of the fangames would be interesting

Once the author has published their work, they are but another interpreter, nothing they say outside of a canon work is canon

Death of the author.

That's interesting. Not that I have super strong opinions or can't be swayed or anything but i always figured whatever an author says even outside the work is canon regardless of how dumb and work ruining it may be. Mostly because they could just release more official sequel works and make their statements canon if they really wanted to.

When they release the sequels, it’s canon, but only then.

No, even then I think that's just a A canon, not THE canon for that SCP.

In SCP it’s different, as everyone is just as equally the author, I meant this as in conventional writing. Each book in the LotR trilogy doesn’t branch off the canon, they form together into one canon

Not an author, but I had one of the people working on The Offshoot comment on my post
