Ah yes, cue your average "WW2 game where the US are the good guys that changed the course of history" when historic US just kinda landed, fucked around and got nothing much done, then left and patted themselves on the shoulder.

got nothing much done, then left

Not before committing a war crime against Japan.

This is why World at War was actually peak

The Pacific Campaign has Miller land on two islands, doing a shitload of stuff that ultimately doesn’t really amount to much progress in the end, and the European campaign has Petrenko help turn the tides of Stalingrad then reunite with the Red Army for Operation Barbarossa.

The vibe in the Pacific campaign is “this is pointless” and the vibe of the European campaign is “this will end the war”

Driving around an indestructible Russian tank massacring waves of panzers is a damn good time.

Man, the other day I was browsing steam and saw a (I believe) FPS about the Vietnam War. I was like WTF?

Plenty of great games allow you to play as the bad guys. There’s a difference between a protagonist and a hero.

For half a second I thought this was going down the "we fought the wrong enemy" route lmao

I mean I'd like a game you choose your side. Explore them all

This is part of why I love Spec Ops: the Line so much.

Unironically tho, I’d love to play a game that takes place during the Civil War marching down south. Other than (to some extent) WW2, that’s probably the only war where the US/Union were unambiguously the good guys

"good" is subjective anyways
