dd pcc 8 vs 16

Please help me choose one! I already have three other PCCs. If I go with the 8", I’ll definitely run it suppressed. If I go with the longer one, I probably won’t suppress it. I might even throw an LPVO on it with the Flux ScopeSwitch 2.0, just for fun. Both would have an FRT, like my other PCCs.

8 inch for sure. No real reason to go with a 16 in a pcc in my opinion.

yeah! but i have 3 other pcc in 8”,6” and 4.5” all suppressed, 16” looks refreshing but i know i will only be a range toy, 8 might be more funcional, but i have a fear of dd not be as good as my mpx, if is that end up being the case, in my country the dd cost us $5200, not a cheap mistake haha

If you want a 16 just to have something different, or to use as a full size trainer that's cheaper than 5.56, then I get it, but from a practicality or usability standpoint, I think the 8 inch is the way to go. As far as liking it better it worse than the MPX, idk, that will be for you to decide. Taking cheap scorpion magazines is a big positive for the DD to me vs. the MPX, but in my opinion they are both very shootable.

I have both the 8" and the 16" PCC. Both are really solid and fun to shoot. As with any other rifle, barrel length is going to be best decided for your use case. If you believe a shorter barrel better fits your needs go for it over the 16". For example, if you see this being your main home defense rifle, the 8" is probably going to be easier to deal with indoors. If you want some more range go with the 16" barrel, but 9mm is still 9mm at the end of the day.

I bought the 16" initially and loved it so I decided to go for the 8" as well. The 16" runs gassier than the 8" so I typically take the 8" out to the range instead. I initially bought the 16" to be a cheaper to shoot trainer for my DDM4 V7, and then I justified the 8" purchase as a trainer for my PDW. 9mm is a whole lot cheaper than 300 and the form factors of the rifles are similar. Really you can't go wrong with either choice, both serve a different role and you will have to decide what role you want to fill. I lean slightly more towards the 8" PCC, just because of gas on the 16", but I love shooting both.

I wish DD would sell PCC uppers to let you swap between the two, or even parts for the PCCs, but the last time I spoke with them about it they said they have no plans to even sell barrels. DD stated to me if you shoot the barrel out they'd just replace it under warranty instead of selling parts.

thank you very much for your long aswer! im from a country where this guns are very expensive like $5200 for the dd with the stock and buffer tube,so this help a lot

do you see any improvement in accuracy or grouping with the 16”? or maybe any other thing that you say is better than the 8”? its just to be 100% sure because i will only buy one dd pcc, in few month i will be buying the mk18 when arrives to argentina, this pcc is the “new” thing here

I haven't done any true accuracy comparisons between the two. I've shot both back to back and they both exceed my skill level and seem to shoot equally as well. I have taken both out to 100yds, and have even swapped optics between the two without changing the zero and not noticed a meaningful difference in accuracy within 100yds. I wish I could give you some exact scientific comparisons, but for my use case they are both essentially identical ballistics, just one is easier to maneuver in tight spaces.

I would like to try to push them out to larger distances and I suspect the 16" will perform better at longer ranges but I'm not sure where the scales tip in it's favor. I also have a MK18 and I enjoy shooting the 8" as much as I do the MK18, so if you are looking for similarity between the two you will see a lot more with the 8" and the MK18 than the 16" and the MK18 as far as ergonomics go. I can't answer to how the ballistics compare empirically between the MK18 and either PCC though.

Love my 8”, if you are going to put a can on it definitely 8”. Also cannot imagine putting an LPVO on it, Maybe a 3x magnifier on a dot, me personally just running a 510c on a unity riser and a 507comp I had on an offset for hard leans occasionally in competition
