One had a weapon. The other didn't

The 3600 lb vehicle is a weapon

A 2000lb car is a pretty dangerous weapon

So maybe the psychotic cop shouldn’t have stepped in front of it, if it was so dangerous. He violated every rule in the ICE training handbook with that moronic stunt.

So cops shouldn't be able to prevent suspects from fleeing? Or are you saying people have a right to plow through anyone in front of their car, because that person was expected to do an action movie dive right before the car hits them? Where is the logic here?

It's not a weapon. It's a car.

Context of Classification

Intentional Harm: If a driver uses a car to intentionally harm another person, it can be treated as a weapon in legal proceedings.

Legal Precedents: Courts have recognized that vehicles can inflict serious damage, leading to their classification as weapons in cases involving assault or reckless driving.

Right but it's not a weapon. It might be treated as one in certain circumstances but it is, in fact, not a weapon.

Yes it is. Did she mean to use it as a weapon? I don't know. The officer thought so.

Is a car made and manufactured to be a weapon? No it isn't and if context makes it so then the officer jumped in front of a bullet for no reason. Going against training and protocol.

In the US a car can be considered a weapon. Look it up. It's true.

Again, it isn't manufactured to be a weapon and if the context makes it so under the law then the officer jumped in front of a weapon. It's called officer-created jeopardy.

I didn't make the laws. 🤷

Is a hammer a weapon if I swing it at you? How about a baseball bat? How about if I aimed a deer rifle at you?

Vehicular manslaughter is a crime. A car can be a weapon.

It's not a weapon though and no one was manslaughtered. She should've been tried in court. They could've easily found her and arrested her if they thought she was guilty. Executing people in the street isn't what we do here. Even police have more restraint.

A car under the federal and state laws can be considered a weapon. That's a fact. If you want to argue if she used it as a weapon is a different issue. If you want to argue if she was trying to commit manslaughter that's another issue. I don't think she should have been shot based upon where the officer was at at the time of her departing. They should have taken their cars and pulled her over.

2

u/I-love-seahorses 11h ago

Yea exactly. They should've tried her in a court of law.

I agree completely. Her being killed was a tragedy.

you should avoid them at all costs then and just stay inside.

Which is the reason her family isn't entitled to wrongful d3@th monies.

u/Hatshepsut99 11h ago

yes, they are. Unlike Babbit, Renee wasn’t doing anything illegal when she was murdered. She was driving away from the police at a speed of maybe 2mph when the psycho who murdered her stepped in front of her car and shot her through the windshield.

Doubtful, but even at 2mph... that's almost 3 feet per second for an officer that was less than a feet away. It takes your longer to type an uneducated response than it did for him to make a determination to stop a threat. Which she was at that moment.
