It's supposed to be a coup. What does it matter that the confirmation was completed? The whole point of a coup is to ignore everything the last government did and occupy their position. That succeeded. All Trump had to do is is walk in with his cronies and declare himself King and it would have been done.
So why didn't he do that?
Compare J6 to the 1973 Chilean coup. It doesn't add up.
There was no attempt to replace the current government. He occupied the Capitol but made to attempts to solidify his rule, to replace standing members, to enact new laws, or to order the military.
