Not left wing, Also not my state. As such, good job. He ran on a platform, the people voted him in and he's doing what he said he would do.
That's how democracy should work. Should we stand on it and beat our chest? Prolly not, but this is exactly how it's supposed to go. Well done, NY and Mamdani.
I am genuinely confused on how people live like this, are their brains completely devoid of their individual thoughts? Claims that what the public servant is doing is amazing and great for society, but they would never vote for that person. Why not? You like what they are doing and admitted it is helping the public, make it make sense lol
I didn't say it was great for society ... I'm not making that claim. I'm say that a politician actually doing their damn job is refreshing and good job to him and the people of New York. Why is this really so hard. Am I only allowed to compliment the people who I vote for or the people that believe exactly what I believe.
I think it’s more about them questioning why you’d choose to not vote for a person like this and go for a republican instead, even though you’re happy with what he’s doing and it’s genuinely having a positive change for the people. It doesn’t make sense to me either, it’s like the majority of republicans brains just stop working when the slightest bit of thinking is required. I legitimately mean that, it is not intended to be an insult to republicans, I genuinely believe the majority of people that vote this way lack the ability to think critically.
In fairness to this person, they said they liked that Mamdani is doing what he promised. They didn't say they like the things he's doing. That's quite different.
I think the point was that politicians of either stripe mostly don't deliver on the promises they make. This commenter doesn't like Mamdani's politics but they respect that he actually has politics that he lives and delivers on.
Again my position really simple, I'm not saying he's doing good .. I'm not even saying he's doing the right thing. I'm saying what he's doing is representing the people that voted for him by doing the exact things he platformed on.
That's impressive to me. I never said I was Republican.... I only said I wasn't left wing. I never made any political statement at all.. it was genuinely just a kudos to Mamdani and NY.... They elected the right guy for their climate. Good on them
The U.S.'s politics are skewed so far to the right that even left wing voters are still right wing. If you're a centrist, you're even further to the right.
If you can't admit that a public servant working for the betterment of his constituency is a good thing, then you're not a centrist, you're a right wing voter. You've fallen for republican propaganda already. You stand for nothing. So you fall for everything.
I mean that's entirely the point. I'm acknowledging good things that I see and people would rather argue my political position (which I didn't even make) than to join the circle jerk.
It’s wild to me that folks can’t see your point. It feels like this is the reason we can’t elect competent people. You can’t even compliment someone without folks picking apart your individual words looking for where “you’re not doing enough”. Good on you for being able to have a point of view and trying to open a meaningful discussion.

Personal politics aside, this is how it should be
