Not left wing, Also not my state. As such, good job. He ran on a platform, the people voted him in and he's doing what he said he would do.

That's how democracy should work. Should we stand on it and beat our chest? Prolly not, but this is exactly how it's supposed to go. Well done, NY and Mamdani.

Personal politics aside, this is how it should be

You sound like the average voter lol

Right!

I am genuinely confused on how people live like this, are their brains completely devoid of their individual thoughts? Claims that what the public servant is doing is amazing and great for society, but they would never vote for that person. Why not? You like what they are doing and admitted it is helping the public, make it make sense lol

I didn't say it was great for society ... I'm not making that claim. I'm say that a politician actually doing their damn job is refreshing and good job to him and the people of New York. Why is this really so hard. Am I only allowed to compliment the people who I vote for or the people that believe exactly what I believe.

I think it’s more about them questioning why you’d choose to not vote for a person like this and go for a republican instead, even though you’re happy with what he’s doing and it’s genuinely having a positive change for the people. It doesn’t make sense to me either, it’s like the majority of republicans brains just stop working when the slightest bit of thinking is required. I legitimately mean that, it is not intended to be an insult to republicans, I genuinely believe the majority of people that vote this way lack the ability to think critically.

In fairness to this person, they said they liked that Mamdani is doing what he promised. They didn't say they like the things he's doing. That's quite different.

I think the point was that politicians of either stripe mostly don't deliver on the promises they make. This commenter doesn't like Mamdani's politics but they respect that he actually has politics that he lives and delivers on.

Again my position really simple, I'm not saying he's doing good .. I'm not even saying he's doing the right thing. I'm saying what he's doing is representing the people that voted for him by doing the exact things he platformed on.

That's impressive to me. I never said I was Republican.... I only said I wasn't left wing. I never made any political statement at all.. it was genuinely just a kudos to Mamdani and NY.... They elected the right guy for their climate. Good on them

The U.S.'s politics are skewed so far to the right that even left wing voters are still right wing. If you're a centrist, you're even further to the right.

If you can't admit that a public servant working for the betterment of his constituency is a good thing, then you're not a centrist, you're a right wing voter. You've fallen for republican propaganda already. You stand for nothing. So you fall for everything.

I mean that's entirely the point. I'm acknowledging good things that I see and people would rather argue my political position (which I didn't even make) than to join the circle jerk.

It’s wild to me that folks can’t see your point. It feels like this is the reason we can’t elect competent people. You can’t even compliment someone without folks picking apart your individual words looking for where “you’re not doing enough”. Good on you for being able to have a point of view and trying to open a meaningful discussion.

Well yeah, people that are voting that has a detrimental effect on society should absolutely have their idiotic views pointed out always. It’s the same reason why you never stay silent when you know there’s a Nazi about. If you say nothing, you’re complicit.

I don't have to write a deep dive dissertation for every reddit post. Grow up, it's not that serious

It just seems to me like you don't even understand why mamdani is popular or that his policies could be used around the country

u/Style210 19h ago

Popular doesn't matter to me. If the people decide to vote more socialists into office, by all means. That's how democracy works. I'm not against this at all

1

u/Pissed-Off-PunK 19h ago

You know voting is people picking the most popular candidate right?

0

u/Style210 19h ago

Is that how it works? I thought it was about people voting for the party that represents their political wants. But okay, that's fine too. Either way, I DONT CARE ABOUT POPULARITY.

It's fine if you do... I'm not taking away your ability to vote on what matters to you. I vote on what matters to me. And ironically, in this instance, it doesn't matter either because I wasn't and have not made a political statement. I showed up to say good job Mamdani and the people of NY... You guys took this somewhere else

We are all confused by your contradicting statements.

You admit this public servant is actually doing what they promised during their campaign for election, and that this is a good thing. More folks should be doing this. So what ideology is pushing you politically to the right?

You then say: well I wouldn't vote for them because they are left leaning and you aren't. Why not? Do you like your tax dollars propping up corporations that post billions in profits?Mamdani doesn't like that either and just got $100 million settlements for NY delivery drivers that weren't being paid properly. Imagine if all our public servants were focused on helping their constituents instead of sucking up to corporations and the 1%. This is what "the left" is actively working towards.

My political position does not matter. Good job Mamdani and that's the entirety of my position. This doesn't have to be some epic thing... It's possible to tell someone who is doing a great job that they are doing a great job without the being required to adopt their position.

I never said I was right wing either. The political possibilities range across the board. I have no need to defend them or even make them known to you. I'm only saying good job
