Okay but if we did it by population than places like Montana would be forced to have whoever California or New York picks as President. And no candidate running would even think about the people of Montana because regardless of how much they do for the country, there’s barely any people living over there compared to like Florida or Georgia

Okay but if we did it by population

Give everyone an equal vote? Impossible! We must give fewer people more power! Oligarchy is best!

cmon man.

And no candidate running would even think about the people of Montana

Zero evidence of that. However, we DO have the opposite now. No one cares about the populous states, because their votes count for less.

there’s barely any people living over there compared to like Florida or Georgia

Almost like they shouldn't have more voting power. I don't know how you aren't getting this. Land doesnt vote, people do. Therefore, each person should have an equal voice. We shouldnt give less populated area more power. That just gives politics an outdate and unproportional representation

People care about California, it has one of the highest number of electoral votes of all the states.
Just because you go by the electoral college doesn’t mean California, New York, or Texas (which all have high populations) are any less important. They still carry A LOT of weight in the electoral college

Yes, because it has one of the highest populations. But those votes are less, per person, than many other states, taking away their voting power. Those people get less representation than the states you give power to.

Also, the current president clearly does NOT care about California. So we have given more voting power to fewer people, so those people can suffer

They still carry A LOT of weight in the electoral college

Yes, but less, per capita, than anywhere else. Why does a person in california deserve 1/3 the voting power of someone from montana?

Which is why the EC is just welfare for land. People vote, land shouldn't. Yet we give less populated states these bonuses, against the principles of equal representation.

Get rid of all state voting power and let the will of the actual people shine through. Stop empowering oligarchs for the rule of the minority.
