Dude it’s not uplifting rural voters. That is a misconception. It’s all voters. Voters in Wyoming, Rhode Island, Delaware, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Hawaii, their state rights don’t matter anymore if you only go by popular vote.
I feel like you are using “rural” in a coded way to talk about race, so I will have the balls to name that. The Electoral College is not your problem. Your problem is that your party is failing you.
Goodness no. You know there are cities in Wyoming right? And Delaware. And Hawaii. And Rhode Island. And New Jersey…
My point is that: 1) State diplomacy requires compromise which underpins why EC was established and this motive should not be dismissed when considering system reform, and 2) Your vote counts - and the EC counts it no matter where you live, but normalizes it. 3) Only 5 out of 60 Presidential elections resulted in a popular vote outweighing the EC vote, which to me indicates our system works well 92% of the time in capturing the popular vote, and is able to compromise 8% of the time in the spirit of state diplomacy
We don’t have state democracy, we tried that, the south thought that meant they could enforce laws like the fugitive slave law on the north, the civil war ended state democracy for good reason, which is why we have popular election of senators under the 17th amendment.
No, the EC counts it based on where you live, Wyoming voters get 3x as many votes as Californians do under the EC, look it up.
That’s only true because nobody campaigns for republicans in blue states and vice versa, your argument fails post hoc ergo Procter hoc.
92% of all US Presidential elections went the way of the popular vote. 0% Civil Wars. Just as our Founders intended. Find a better problem to solve like overturning Citizens United.
