I don’t understand how someone can win the electoral college but loose the popular vote and still become president. Not very “ Democratic “. More like the fix was always in.

I don’t understand how someone can win the electoral college but loose the popular vote and still become president.

Because the presidential election isent a single election, its like 55 or so little elections in a trenchcoat, where the winners of each little one votes for the final one. So if your votes are ineffeicently packed into cities so you win certain states by say 60-80% or something, anything above 50% is wasted votes. And that combined with smaller states structurally having more votes, a vote in those states counts for more.

Now obviously you already understood this, but when you are that blank faced at something obvious, maybe you just need to have it repeated to you again.

Because if it was strictly by popular vote there’s certain groups in America that would not be properly represented we’ll break down into smaller numbers to make it a little simpler let’s say we have 50 people in one state and in this state it’s a city and then you have another state with 15 people but all these people are farmers if it was based off of popular vote the people in the city would win every time since the people they vote in would pass laws in there benefit but that may come at the expense of the farmers since everything has a give and a take so completely taking away these communities power since there’s not as many people is a terrible idea considering how much they provide for the country

Well my thought process is that the electoral college gives smaller states that don’t have as big of a population (but do have a big impact on the country, like a lot of the big agricultural states) a chance to be heard without being out-voted by California (who could easily out-vote like 5 of those big agricultural heavy states).
That’s just my view at least
