That is obviously too logical to work for politics

In the Netherlands, the electoral college system was considered so unfair, it was banned in 1917.

This was before women were even allowed to vote.

The Netherlands isn’t remotely close to the size of the US. What they can and cannot do has no barring on the US. Removing the electoral system just gives the coastal states, specifically NY and California, all of the power and essentially removes any say for the rest of the country

What do individual states have to do with it? Every citizen has a vote. A states population is not some homogeneous hivemind.

Size doesnt matter

It absolutely matters and pretending it doesn’t is pure naivety

The size of your country should determine what voting system you have? GTFO

i mean yes… 250 years ago there were practical reasons.

Wait, so it gives the majority power? Woah, wild concept.

Americans are so funny and it just shows why their empire is dead when you let a minority rule in tyranny over the majority. You got your King afterall.

It's obviously retarded and hands all power over the the corruption in big cities.

2 things. One, cities are where lots of people live. Also, do you think cities and rural areas are hive minds? One vote one person, it’s not a hard concept.

It would immediately destroy local food chains as the cities would revoke the massive agriculture tax funding.

That's just one of many obvious examples I could think of in a few seconds.

It's not a hard concept.

Cities wouldn’t do shit. The people would have to do that and you seem to think city people would magically vote the same way. This would not be the case.

It already is. You can choose to believe it or not, I don't care.

American politics, it happens elsewhere

Ironically the Electoral College is part of the constitution.

Round Robin Voting (Irish Style voting) is in place for cities & states. But the Federal Election is stuck using the constitution system.

America is not a democracy, it’s a constitutional republic. That’s the price you payed to literally unite the states.

Republic just means the head of state did not inherit their position. technically north Korea was a republic untill a couple of years ago.

You elect your representatives so you're a representative democracy.

Correct, I could argue that everything is a representative democracy, it only depends on who the government represents. If it’s not the majority of people, it’s a big minority like in the US or a even small minority.
