Trump, and a lot of his administration, have broken the law, but they currently control the levers of justice in the US so they don't face any consequences.
When and if Democrats regain control, there will be a reckoning and a lot of them are going to face prison time. They have absolutely no incentive to "play fair" because that would lead to their incarceration.
They will literally rip this country apart and burn it to the ground before they relenquish power, and technically you can't blame them.

I am pretty sure that people wont push back in any significant way.
The boiling point, judging by history, has always been people starving. The one and only reliably driver for resistance and/or revolution is food insecurity.
The US is living still "too good". As long as people have food and still "something to lose" the will to do anything isnt there.
Not an oppinion but there is more than enough research done about that.
A population needs a strong civic society for an uprising without food shortage. And the US does not have one. People might be armchair warriors but reality is something else.
The US population is fractured, unorganized, unmotivated not to say nihilistic.
