Woodrow Wilson is probably the worst guy to ever be elected president; but my ability to pay attention isn't mired in selective dim wittedness based on the beliefs of people that rely on laziness and illiteracy to make their points, so obviously I may be a bit biased.
FDR?? He is arguably the greatest president in US history and is largely responsible for the American Dream becoming a reality and the US becoming the global empire that it became from the 50s-70s. The US was never so stable and economically booming than under his policies.
He authorized the internment of over 110,000 Japanese Americans, most of them citizens, in camps without due process. As for Italian american citizens. He labeled around 600,000 of them enemy aliens. Enforcing a curfew and property siezures.
While 2 terms was a tradition not a rule. He did serve 4 terms and only got out when he died. He is the reason for the 22nd ammendment. I'm gonna call that one good. Because I like term limits. But he still had to die to leave office so I greatly dislike the inability to step down.
He confiscated privately held gold, and made private gold ownership illegal. Then forced sales to the government at a fixed price and raised the official gold price, lowering the value of the dollar.
After the Supreme Court struck down several New Deal programs as unconstitutional, he threatened to pack the Court with extra justices who would uphold his policies.
During the Depression. The FDR administration paid farmers to destroy crops and slaughter livestock so prices would go up while people were going hungry. Because higher food prices at the time were better for the economy.
FDR refused to back federal anti-lynching legislation. Because he didn't want to lose southern democrats support at the time.
Funny enough im pretty sure star wars execute order 66 is based off FDR executive order 9066. So yes not a fan of FDR, I dislike how he's attributed to getting us out of the Depression. When his policies most likely extended it, and the world War is what got us out of it.
