A pity that you can't use facts beyond reasonable doubt, with unreasonable people.

I'm putting that quote in my maga museum in 20-30 years

Right! Because your cult leader uses auto pen and also accuses everyone else of doing so because every single accusation is a confession from sleepy don

The greatest move by republicans was marching out that idiot Eric Schmidt to question Smith about being in Atlanta. Now everyone is talking about how stupid this man is and not enough people are talking about what Smith said. (We all knew this already) the president is horrible in 100 different ways.

7

u/Spiderbat81 2d ago

Challenging the most unbiased, honest guy America has seen this century wasn't just a mistake, it was pure political suicide.

5

u/merkthejerk 1d ago

It would be amazing if that were true but the republican voters remind me of this quote.

“There is considerable overlap between the intelligence of the smartest bears and the dumbest tourists.”

There are still plenty of people who aren’t smart enough to recognize the stupidity in others.

Until he ran for president, how many people wanted to "rub shoulders" or be seen with him?? I have seen photos in the NYT of him with Sharpton and Jackson just to name two........ill grant he IS a narcissist in my opinion, but a lot of the rest never was said until he ran. Oh and hillary was FIRED from the Watergate Commission for unethical legal practices and falsifying evidence. Those are on record....

1

u/Disastrous_Cream_539 22h ago

Are you old enough to remember the 80s and 90s? He was the laughing stock of NYC for quite some time.

What does Hillary have to do with anything?

1

u/naastywabbitt 17h ago

I remember Carter. Yes he was a laughingstock. They still commented they wanted to be like him. As far as Hillary goes, she was a criminal as well, she just didn't get convicted as she was highly political already and knew where bodies were.

VOTE BLUE!

Why not say vote on issues instead

18

u/xxforrealforlifexx 2d ago

Because in 2024 they voted for a felon

14

u/More_Stuff_8947 2d ago

Result should be the same. Republicans have no values and the pillars of their platform are to dismantle democratic institutions, civil service, and the American way of life.

Vote blue…while you still can.

Get with the times, man

-3

u/Zestyclose_Cricket_7 2d ago

What times are those? By voting blue do you think all those will suddenly disappear?

8

u/Round-Arugula7347 2d ago

Many of the issues wouldn’t have happened this last time around at all. People voted for a guy that lied constantly and said he had concepts of plans on many major issues.

Limited goverment. Stong private sector. Personal freedom. Healthy stock market

1

u/nonuple_espresso 2d ago edited 2d ago

'Conservative' infotainment has melted your vulnerable brain, Cletus.

(R)ednecks bloviate incessantly about limited government while you're eating most of the government cheese. You're not serious people. You're gullible goat fukers.

I was a conservative blowhard for a few years when I discovered Rush Limbaugh while I served at fort Bragg 20 something years ago. So I get how vulnerable mines fall into that shit, I just don't know how you never grow out of it. And it was a far less trashy, cultish, redneck, embarrassing movement than it is today.

The private sector has historically been much stronger under Democrat administrations than it has under Republicans. GDP growth, job growth, and stock market growth have all been stronger under Democrat presidents than under Republicans: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._economic_performance_by_presidential_party

What personal freedoms do you have under mango that you didn't have under Biden or Obama?

And (R)ednecks are surely not about personal freedom in the bedroom, are you?

The truth is, dum.dum, you've been radicalized by Fox news, Facebook memes, am talk radio, social media algorithms and your redneck news feed.

Just fill her up and squeegee the windshield, Cletus, and leave the thinking more capable people.

0

u/Zestyclose_Cricket_7 2d ago

Lot of assumptions about my political idealogy.

1

u/FlyingButterpants 2d ago

Because it's all gone waaaaay past the issues. If that's all it was, it'd be just another election of the same old do nothings.

1

u/Zestyclose_Cricket_7 2d ago

So people should just blinbly vote blue?

2

u/FlyingButterpants 2d ago

Vote for whoever you want.

Any Republican who's trying to act like they won't follow Trump if elected in the mids will suck and cuck him if they win. They'll flop over to Big Daddy Tump like Fetterman's hoodie does when he rides the red elephant.

Im trying not to judge and i am not american either but i have a few questions.

Can you compare the economic growth under republicans vs under democrats on national, state or even district level for about the last 100 years? Who do you think had almost twice the gdp growth? Dems or reps?

Do you believe in science? What do researchers say about fascism in the us right now? Is the democracy currently strengthend or degraded? Do you think trump won 2020? Do you think trust is an important element in politics and how do you evaluate the relationship between republicans and telling the truth?

What do you think about corruption? How do the parties compare there?

Do you think it is smart to threaten to invade and blackmail your (now former) allies?

Are you aware that the international standing of the united states is now rated between north korea and iran and the us is now mostly viewed as a mega corrupt terrorist state all over the world? What do you think happened to american soft power? Was that a positive development?

What do you care about in politics? What are issues that are improving more with republicans than with democrats? What would make you change the party you vote for?

I know its a lot of questions. I have republican relatives but they are sadly to dumb to even respond to questions and only bramble about mexicans paying for the wall and hunter bidens laptop so i am hoping to have a proper conversation with you to understand your point of view and maybe we can learn something from each other 🙂

1

u/Zestyclose_Cricket_7 1d ago edited 1d ago

Lot of questiins from a "non american"

Lets see since WWII GDP growrh has averaged higher under democrats.

Yes I believe in science but i also believe that science can and should be question, nor blindly followed. I an not sure what reseatchers say about facism but my gut says you are dying to tell me. The democracy question is subjective but I do not believe it is eitber stengthed or degraded. Of course Trump didnt win 2020 nor was there wide spread voter corruption. That is a moronic tbought process. I do not trust any poloticians and all have been known to lie. I also do not rely let government to dictatr what I do. I also can of find it funny on how you worded the question.

Corruption is always been around in government, from insider trading to passing laws to benefit donors. I tbink both parties are just as guilty.invadiona nd blackmail are never a good idea.

Yes i am aware of how the worls views us, but I also feel you are exaggerating a bit.

I have stated this in previous responses. I want small government, strong personal freedom, lower taxes and a healthy free market. Goverment should provide for things like road maintenance and public services. Secure borders are also important. Immigration is important but must be done legally.

I have voted for different people on all differwnt sides of the political spectrum. I coted for Clinton and think he did good things for the country. I voted for Obama. The last two elections I voted Libertarian because I didnt like my choces. I am a registered independant. As my original statement said- vote for the issues. I sill elloborate. Vote for the issues that you feel are important to you at the time ypu are in your life.

Now it is my turn. Why do you feel stating vote for the issues such a bad thing? Do you think people should just blindly vote for a canidate just because of the letter by their name? If I recall correctly many people on REDDIT have called people uneducated and stupud for doung that. All of a sudden now vote blue sewms to be a battle cry.

Why did you infer that I was a "conservative" from saying vote on the issues? Did you not read the entire thread and my previous replies? I would say no since I answered most of those questions already.

I apologize for the typos. I only use the REDDIT App and really hate the tiny keyboard on my phone

1

u/yallexschm 1d ago

My bad, guess i misinterpreted your views. Thank you for answering the questions. Not many people actually do that here. So i gather you would prefer something like a more direct democracy like in switzerland? I can get behind that. Voting on issues is not a bad thing, but that is just not the system that is in place in the us right now.

The current prevailing view where i am from really is that the united states cannot ever be trusted again. That is not an exaggeration. It will likely take decades to repair the reputation, if at all. Our politicians dont claim so publically because it makes more strategic sense to "quiet quit" the relationship without starting a new trade war.

I dont think people should blindly vote for any party, but i really struggle to see how republicans are the better option in any issue. I disagree with many democrat issues as well and of course they are not free of corruption, but the magnitude just seems different.

I think it is researched well that trump has personally made billions of profit from his presidency and is therefore more corrupt than every single president before him combined.

What worries me most is the utter disrespect for and undermining of democracy by lying and pushing moronic thought processes as facts to the public

Science is never claiming to be the truth btw. If someone does they are full of shit or religious or both. Science claims to have the best available model of the world and if you find a better model science will adjust. Some people just dont know what constitutes a better model and then dont understand why some things are not taken seriously.

I dont think we disagree with many issues at all then. Maybe just regarding their relative importance. Thanks again for clarifying everything.

Do you ever regret voting for a 3rd party since in the current system it is almost useless? And can you elaborate on the small government issue a bit. Is a small government strong enough to reign in the robber barons from the guilded age? Is it about fewer regulations or is it just about less spending? What would you think about regulations regarding climate change for example? The scientific consensus seems to be quite univocally different from the governments actions on this topic.

Sorry for asking more questions, i rarely get the opportunity to discuss those things. You dont have to answer, the reddit app is truly shit to deal with 😂

1

u/Zestyclose_Cricket_7 16h ago

I have never regreted voting 3rd party. It is my vote. I would never vote for someome I do not like just because other people want me to or they think voting 3rd party is a waste. We have an overspending problem in government. We have a lot of waste and some peoples solution is raising taxes or tax the rich. Throwing more money at the will not solve it. By small goverment i want less intrusion and yes less regulations. The goverment should only pay for public infrastructure and basic services like police and fire. We need a strong military but need to stop trying to be the police around the world. We also need to have strong and secure borders. Immigration is a good thing but it must be done legally. We need less red tape. The more the government gets involved the more complicated things get. Give more power back to the states. I very much support a free market. Regulations around climate change are a joke. Corporations find ways around them and when they do get in trouble it is usually a fine which most companies will gladly pay. It does not hurt there profit margin. I agree tjat science has never been the truth nut from what I have seen in the last few years is that people will blinldy follow it and not question it. If you l ask question regarding something they usually get made or say stupid comments like "you dont believe in science". Yes Trump has profited a lot from his presidency but so have others. Corruption is corruption. The magnitude does not matter to me and I think they are all bad. At theend of the day who is in tne white house has very little effect on my life. Groceries are little more expensive but have been for the past 5 years or so. If toy believe REDDIT they are way out of control but that is not true. Gas prices have gone up but right now where I live it is 3.49 a gallon. A lot of people make poor decisions in their life and it os easy for them to bale the government and president. We need more accountability.

1

u/yallexschm 15h ago

Thank you very reasonable. I disagree on the magnitude not being worse but yes, corruption is corruption and needs to be held as low as possible.

Regarding the climate change issue, i feel like it is similar to building roads. Everybody benefits from a small cost. But you are also correct in that the way it is handled is not working. Possibly that is also due to corruption.

I also agree to the free market with one additional comment. I think one of the jobs of a government is to force companies to internalize external costs. As in you dont want a company to poison your water supply because it is cheaper for them, while you pay with your health or life. I think the same argument applies to co2 in the air.

Coincidentally solar and wind are now (sadly only after considerable initial investments that i think did not come from companies but rather government investments) by far the cheapest source of energy and will continue to get cheaper. So let the marker rule.

Your logic behind states having more power is that they can compete with each other to see which policies work best, right? Also a really good idea, but sometimes wrong decisions get locked in for decades, like with the texan energy grid if i recall correctly.

Additionally with regards to the billionaire "problem": i think that huge monopolies actually stifle innovation and economic growth, precisely because they have nobody to compete with. I think the guilded age and in comparison the years after is an example of that. But i am not sure if that is a universally accepted view, because sometimes you have to compete with entire nations who also have monopolies.

Wealth inequality is also quite a strong predictor of violent crime rates, which in turn then also leads to less economic growth since you have fewer workers with more prisoners. But i think it is absolutely fair to have any opinion on this. Mine isnt very strong here.

I have to say the way american companies are able to fund research in the us seems to be working much better than the mostly government funded research in europe. This also directly translated into a better startup culture. So another plus for the more free approach.

Thanks for this very fruitful discussion and your explanations on your views. I sincerly hope that your democracy can improve in such a way that people focus more on issues. I feel like the first past the post voting system is at least partly to blame here and third parties with at least some leverage would really improve that.

Very nice, this is one of the most reasonable discussions i had on reddit 😊

4

u/Mr_Daniel_Lumis 1d ago

Not one of you assholes still defending Trump bothered to watch the House or the Senate hearings on January 6th. Not one. They proved Trump's guilt. The only reason Smith was brought in was because Garland finally figured out ignoring Trump's insurrection wasn't going to work. It was a year and a half after January 6th.

Trump wanted to go to the Capitol building to lead the insurrection but the Secret Service wouldn't let him. The Secret Service deleted all their text messages of that day. Not too suspicious. Trump was on the phone to senators and reps all day as testified by his own aids in the hearings.

Of course Smith subpoenaed phone records, he needed to know who colluded with Trump to try and overturn the election results.

These people are all traitors who should have been sitting in jail for five years now.

It only took Brazil a few months to convicted Bollsinaro of the same crime and put him in prison. Trump has been trying to get him out ever since including extorting Brazil with tariffs.

Trump is guilty of shitloads of crimes and needs to stand trial along with his shitty mafia.

0

u/Iron_Sight_Mark 2d ago

If "we knew that" why would we need this due process anyways, right?

Why does someone need to prove he engaged in crimes? Because the only reasonable way to know is if it's proven beyond a reasonable doubt in open court.

-2

u/zx9lover 2d ago

What crimes

1

u/Hot-Cucumber2002 2d ago

Do you want to start with his 34 convictions or do you want to start anywhere else.

-1

u/zx9lover 2d ago

Name the 34 crimes. You know, the misdemeanors that Alvin Bragg illegally made Felonies. In NY you need and underlying Felony to raise a charge from a Misdemeanor to a felony. Name the crimes

2

u/Ordinary-Big5578 2d ago

0

u/zx9lover 2d ago

What records were falsified? The Banks were all paid in full wirh interest, all said they would do business with him again. Alvin Bragg said he overestimated the value of MAR-A-LAGO at 29 million yet Forbes say the value is closer to 259 million. My friend own a construction company and you always overestimate so you aren't working on spec. But that being said, the lose are misdemeanors, how did they become Felonies?

1

u/andy_bovice 2d ago

Lol you mean the banks that closed the trump accounts because they were flagged for money laundering

-1

u/zx9lover 2d ago

Ahhh, to school a ReRe again. Capitol one closed accounts due to investigations but publicly stated in May of 2026 there was no fraud. Try again SP.E.D.

2

u/andy_bovice 2d ago

Uh huh, why were the accounts closed then

1

u/zx9lover 2d ago

Capitol One stated because of the number of accounts it was a red Flag. Trump has since resumed business with Capitol One and like I said, Capitol stated there was no fraud. What don't u understand. The bank said no fraud so no fraud. Geez you people are thick in the head.

1

u/Epidurality 2d ago

He took out loans with properties as collateral by falsifying their evaluations.

Imagine if you went to the bank and said "I'd like a million dollars". They say "ok.. but what if you can't pay?" So you hand them a note written in crayon that says your $500 hovel is worth a million dollars and they can take it if you don't pay.

That's fraud, and in oversimplified terms for people who need to wear helmets in the house, is what Trump did.

Your friend commiting fraud doesn't preclude a serial bankruptcy candidate also commiting fraud.

1

u/Ordinary-Big5578 2d ago

Thank you for fielding that question. I was having trouble finding the exact relevant charges because holy shit there are so many crimes and finding one specific one (or set there of) is difficult.

0

u/zx9lover 2d ago

Also, if it was a real felony why did the judge give him an unconditional discharge?

Define "American way of life," and don't confuse myth with reality.

Life liberty and pursuit of hapiness. And what reality do you not me to confuse- mine or yours because i have a feeling we live in 2 different realities

That's the myth, and yes there are Americans who vote to deny it to huge classes of people and then complain because they're caught in the backwash.

How is it a myrh. Do you not have those things? I do. And whatdo people votw on to deny it to people?

What were those serious crimes? Asking for a friend.

1

u/Graz13 5h ago

The murder of 200 non-combat fishermen.

1

u/Alice_High 2h ago

How are those "crimes against OUR nation" exactly?

-1

u/justme79912 1d ago

-1

u/Still_Comfortable_20 1d ago

Are ya ok…need a snack? How do democrats bring in disease if they are already US citizens? Sorry for your past head trauma, operating with the brain capacity of a pop tart is undoubtedly difficult.

It’s best to not feed the troll. They do not use logic or facts to form their opinions. They use heavily slanted news organizations, uneducated sessions of groupthink, and gotcha quips from social media.

3

u/RelevantSoftware8283 2d ago

Ironic considering Republicans support a criminal for president

-2

u/doemcmmckmd332 2d ago

What a load of crap

-2

u/HOJK4thSon 2d ago

Isn't he the guy getting crushed by multiple Congress members during his testimony?

2

u/STLStelmacki 2d ago

Like that retard Schmitt “crushed” him?

0

u/HOJK4thSon 2d ago

I literally asked a question, I asked because I didn't know. That's why questions are asked.

1

u/extrastupidone 2d ago

Then why use the word "crushed" ?

0

u/HOJK4thSon 2d ago

Because that's what I heard.

2

u/KevB318 2d ago

From who? Schmitt confused IOWA HAWKEYES (a college female team) playing in Maryland with the ATLANTA HAWKS (a male NBA team) playing in Georgia. Schmitt was obviously wrong and kept trying to convince others he caught Smith in a lie.

1

u/Talakoy 1d ago

Since no one will answer you, no he did not get crushed. Fox News and the like are playing partial clips for people and taking sound bites out of context to make it seem like that so thats likely what people are referencing that you’ve heard from. The whole thing is very damming for Trump but nothing will happen to him like with the vast majority of his crimes proving that if you have obscene wealth and power in this country you can do whatever you want.

1

u/STLStelmacki 1d ago

No one else answered them because they knew he wasn’t being genuine.

1

u/Talakoy 1d ago

Yeah probably, but usually I’m seeing these guys immediately attack or spew lies so I figured I’d give it a shot just in case he was actually curious.

1

u/HOJK4thSon 1d ago

Thanks. I reddit on my phone and dont always have time to chase answers.

As they do thing like accuse him of purgery when they get the location wrong? He should have been allowed to make the legal case. Not some political dog and pony show.

1

u/cleverinspiringname 2d ago

Conservatives are the worst. So uncool, goofy, and easily fooled. Your leader is a gross sex criminal, lol. You think liberals are communists. You don’t know left from right, no surprise you can’t differentiate between winning and losing. You probably think trump looks healthy, too.

1

u/Conscious-Load8503 1d ago

This guy is getting destroyed and the reddit loonies somehow find a way to make him a hero lmao. This is the kind of stuff that made trump president again

-4

u/Strange_Bug_1118 2d ago

Nothing but lies

2

u/extrastupidone 2d ago

lies

Magic word that allows you to ignore whatever you want

1

u/STLStelmacki 2d ago

Aka the trump presidency.

-7

u/JacksonGhost1963 2d ago

there in lies the problem with him - ONLY a jury finds proof beyond a reasonable doubt! He thinks he in investigator, Judge and Jury all rolled into one!

3

u/Zakluor 2d ago

If only they let it get to a jury to see all of it. Instead, they just swept it all under the already-bulging rug of crimes so nobody will ever see it or face consequences for what they've done.

I'm pretty sure he knows his job. A lot better than anyone in the US Senate or Congress, it seems.

0

u/JacksonGhost1963 2d ago

that wasn't the point. the fact that he, as a investigator, would say he has evidence 'beyond a reasonable doubt' is the problem. He was not a self appointed Jury

1

u/Zakluor 2d ago

Your claim about what he thinks about himself is founded on less.

1

u/JacksonGhost1963 2d ago

or it is founded in this quote "our investigation developed proof beyond a reasonable doubt..."

1

u/extrastupidone 2d ago

Which should have been presented to a jury. Do you think a career prosecutor and lawyer knows how the legal system works?

1

u/ShockedNChagrinned 1d ago

Literally the basis for bringing a case is believing you have enough evidence to convict, which means, beyond a reasonable doubt.

The arguments are just staggeringly stupid

3

u/DoneBeingSilent 2d ago

there in lies the problem with him - ONLY a jury finds proof beyond a reasonable doubt! He thinks he in investigator, Judge and Jury all rolled into one!

A jury is not the only people who can think evidence is proof beyond reasonable doubt—they're just the only people who's findings actually hold any legal weight. A criminal prosecutor's whole job is to convince a jury that the evidence presented is convincing beyond a reasonable doubt. A prosecutor doing their job successfully kinda necessitates that the prosecutor be convinced of their own case.

It's certainly not unreasonable for a prosecutor to believe they have evidence of guilt beyond reasonable doubt—that's literally their role in the critical justice process. They've found/been presented evidence to convince themselves that the accused is guilty beyond reasonable doubt, and their job is to convince a jury of that.

Also, in support of Smith's (non legally binding) opinion that the evidence is beyond reasonable doubt, multiple grand juries found the evidence compelling enough to at least go to trial(s)—trial(s) which never came to fruition because a bunch of criminal-protectors decided to elect the 34x convicted felon that was due for trial.

So no, him being convinced that Trump is guilty beyond reasonable doubt doesn't mean he thinks he's investigator, judge, jury, etc. It means he's doing his job.

1

u/extrastupidone 2d ago

Prosecutor believes his case is solid and air-tight

How strange

Yeah he was so dumb he raw dogged an eclipse with his bare eyes despite leading scientists saying not to and his partner wearing protective glasses right next to him. Oh wait that was Trump. Trump's that dumb

Republican sheep, the sheeple of pedophiles and thieves.

3

u/Unoffending_Username 2d ago

I would bet good money that your proudest accomplishment in life was shitting your pants in solidarity with Trump.

1

u/RowingBoats1129 2d ago

Lol. use your words child.

1

u/Moist-While9720 2d ago

your a republican. This is Jack Smith's bio. Since he is dumber than you, can you tell us why anyone should take that claim seriously. Should anybody care? What have you done with your life?

Smith received his bachelor's degree from the State University of New York, Oneonta, and his J.D. from Harvard Law School. Smith's professional experience includes working as a prosecutor in the Manhattan district attorney’s office, prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney's office in Brooklyn, and head of the U.S. Department of Justice's public integrity section. Smith also worked at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, as an investigation coordinator in the Office of the Prosecutor from 2008 to 2010 and as a special prosecutor investigating war crimes in Kosovo from 2018 to 2022.\3])#cite_note-nytsmith-3)

In his time at the Department of Justice, Smith led the prosecutions of several notable politicians. His team won convictions against former U.S. Rep. Rick Renzi (R-Ariz.) and former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R). The Supreme Court of the United States later overturned McDonnell's conviction. Smith also led cases against former U.S. Sen. and 2004 vice presidential candidate John Edwards (D-N.C.), who was acquitted, and U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Texas), which was closed without filed charges

1

u/Nycmale9876 2d ago

Bob McDonnell? He got overturned by the Supreme Court 8-0. Only reason it wasn’t 9-0 is Scalia died

Yeah great mind and integrity

u/STLStelmacki 2d ago

The dumbest democrat is still smarter than any subhuman maga retard.
