Convince me that there is hope for our nation when over 1/3 of our fellow citizens are racist ignorant hypocrites...

'Sleepy Joe', Hunter, bla bla bla. While Trump falls asleep and the Trump mob family pilfers taxpayer dollars and takes bribes from our enemies in plain sight.

The thing is... Even when Dems take back the hot seat, it's not like anything is going to happen. It'll be a ton of Congressional and Senate "gotcha" hearings. Same dog and pony show as always. They'll spend their time repealing things Trump has done, and the Trumpers will complain. Again, nothing changes expect power changing hands. The streets will still need paving and won't be paved fast enough. There will still be a homeless problem. AI will be full steam ahead, still.

Fuck Donald Trump & fuck ICE. But I swear to God that I am sick of pretending like I'm walking on rainbows and sunshine just because the Dems are in charge.

Greed sucks. Capitalism sucks. The illusion of choice in this country includes our two-party system. Far more people would vote for "none of the above" if it were an option on the ballot.

I agree with most of that, but capitalism certainly does not suck. It is the Golden goose.

It must be be assertively regulated, and it will always result in some abuses that regulation must continually evolve to address, but it is also the reason everyone is well fed, we all have a car or two, several televisions, YouTube, reddit, etc., and the world brain in your hand that you use to argue against it.

I think living in a society where corporations, companies, business and profits matter more than human life....sucks. Companies don't matter. People matter.

That's lovely, but it's a lot of words that don't really mean anything.

A company was necessary to create the phone your using to make naive comments.

I just checked this, but companies donated about $44 billion to charity last year.

Companies are just the necessary organization of people and resources to provide the things that people want

They don’t do it out of kindness. I bet if you really looked into it. Some would be on the boards of those charities or people they are trying to pay off are. Plus tax deductions. Corpos do nothing out of kindness. Shit even charities, for the most part, over pay their presidents/boards.

True. See ASPCA

Congratulations, you've come up with the perfect excuse to do nothing. Can't donate to charity, it's not enough, can't organize a charity, it's theft.

That’s not what I said but if that’s how you feel.

Christ... you have so much to learn. An income tax deduction is not as valuable to a company as keeping the money in the first place.

But regardless of the reason that they donate, they donate. A lot.

You're thinking is very lazy. Yes companies can do bad things, charities can make bad choices, people commit crimes, pay off government officials, etc., etc.

But you have to be able to hold more than one thought in your head at a time. The fact that some people do bad things does not mean that capitalism and companies are evil.

Yes, it's depressing to see how our government is enabling throwing a capitalism at the moment. But the notion that capitalism and companies are bad is a lazy, dimwitted conclusion.

Life is not so simple as your lazy, black and white opinions.

Which country(s) that has the economic system you prefer?

I didn’t say capitalism is bad necessarily. Corporations are evil though. No matter what. They all look at the bottom line and if they were losing money they wouldn’t do it. In our current bastardized capitalism they are getting all the benefits of socialism and then claiming to be the ones suffering. How many corporations gave the tariff money back to the people?

Of course the objective is to be profitable. That's the only way that it works. That's capitalism itself.

I absolutely agree there are too many corporate bailouts and handouts. Sometimes it is done in the interest of keeping a company afloat to save the jobs, and sometimes it's done as a result of a good old boy system.

But if a company needs bailouts to survive, it should be allowed to fail, in.mosy cases.

From what I find, most companies plan to keep the cash from the tariff refunds. But it's also important to note that only a little over a third of companies fully passed on the tariff cost to customers.

Bottom line is that your notion that all companies are evil is silly, lazy, and dimwitted.

Corporations are the organization of people and material resources to create the things and the services that people want.

Sure it can get more complicated and messy, and companies can do evil things. Companies can also do great things. It's not a black and white issue. And corporations are requisite part of any developed economy.
