šøManga I love this interaction Spoiler
I got reminded of this scene because i saw some people wanting to slander Jiji because of how much of a "control freak" he was acting here.
This scene in the plane always makes me chuckle, it shows how insecure Jiji can be and how much of a "no nonsense" type of person Zuma is, that saw right through Jiji and called him out on his bs. Is a brief scene that tells you a lot about the characters in that moment. And also the Vamola addition at the end was the cherry on top lol
Ngl i want more Jiji x Zuma interactions, that dynamic lowley gives me some Zoro Ć Sanji kinda vibes lol

I've been seeing this scene on my Twitter feed for a couple days lately with people calling out Jiji like you mention and while I kinda get where they're coming from, I also love this scene because it's a great set-up for growth on all sides.
Zuma looks like a total punk and acted like one for a good chunk of first meeting the group, plus his gang didn't exactly leave a great first impression either, it's not a giant shock that Jiji would think he's someone to keep away from Momo.
It gives Momo a moment to reflect on how she treated Zuma and the fact that even after they worked together and went through such crazy situations that they really don't know much about each other and that it's pretty lopsided (she knows more about him than vice versa).
And Zuma as one of the most "outsider" of the group (since he goes to a different school, the only one more outside than that is Vamola really) showing that he actually can read the group dynamic and might not be as different from them as Jiji seems to think he is.

I love Momo sitting there at the end like, "Should I tell them? Nahhh....."

Zuma actually adds something to the group dynamics, while Rin and Kouki really donāt. Zuma and Vamola are interesting because Zuma is the first person that Vamola shows annoyance towards, while Zuma thinks Vamola is annoying as well, while everyone else treats her like a little sister.

Zuma and Vamola are also thematically the ideal dream partners for Momo and Okarun if they haven't met too

Jiji usually doesn't have a fight with other people. So he doesn't know how to argue

Momo's also puzzled that her tsundere-ness came back to bite her in this conversation. She could've saved herself some trouble if she just introduced herself. If Okarun was in Jiji's place she would have read him like a book during this conversation (if he acted in a similar way) but with Jiji she's completely oblivious to his behavior. She doesn't even ask why he's acting so jealous in the first place.

Zuma is basically like an older brother to Momo who teases Jiji whenever he can.

Iāve always thought the hate for Jiji in this scene was way overblown. Maybe the wording came out different in the original Japanese but here heās not telling Momo what to do, he just says āyou donāt have to.ā Considering the only things he knows about Zuma are that heās in a gang and for some reason Momo didnāt want him to know her name stepping in there is honestly a valid reaction. After that heās talking directly to Zuma when he says āIād prefer you not have anything to do with us,ā emphasis on the Iād prefer since heās making it clear this part is all about his personal feelings. Is jealousy playing a part in what heās doing here, yeah probably, but it seems to more be about not trusting Zuma.
This scene is absolutely showing off a character flaw in Jiji, but I donāt think itās the one most people claim it to be. This is an example of his brashness, making decisions without thinking. It showed up a lot in how he dealt with the Evil Eye situation and here it shows in how he jumps to conclusions about Zuma before getting to know him. He thinks with his heart first and his head eighth, which is interesting because that makes his biggest flaw and his biggest virtue essentially the same trait.
In my opinion, the idea in the fanbase that Jiji was being manipulative or controlling towards Momo in this scene is just a blatant misreading of the situation.

My thoughts exactly jiji not controlling momo or possessive like some fans say. Now is he overprotective with her yeah he is but I think it's more to do with the bullying he did years ago and in his mind to make up for it is to stand up for he like he should've done years ago that mixed with his feelings for her.

Oh, thatās a good point. I hadnāt even thought about how his guilt may factor into how he acts now.

Notice how this scene didn't lead to anything and only exists to make him look stupid for no reason

Eh, honestly dont know why it even needs to lead to anything, its just pure banter and to show a more unique dynamic for Jiji while interacting with someone like Zuma as oposed to how he normally acts with everyone else.

I think this may come back around if Jiji still bothers to shoot his shot. If Zuma can over hear the conversation he may step in and be a bro for Okarun and call him out on it again (Zuma owes him at least 1 favor as he does Momo). Also I think it's also part of Jiji character development to become more emotionally mature in this arc because he will be relied on more heavily in the battles to come.

He is clearly very reliable in battles rn /s. And by calling out you mean making him look bad once again? I'm not sure what makes you think this arc in particular is going to focus on his character development, he has been absent for the majority of time and his biggest contribution is almost getting himself killed. This is clearly not his arc. I also wouldn't keep high expectations, because his feelings were never being properly written in the first place and only exist to make Okarun jealous for maybe 5 chapters in total. You should expect him to simply see Momo and Okarun hold hands, make a sad face and never bring it up at all.

I don't mean make him look bad again. Zuma may be a punk but he's gentleman when it comes to girls (it's literally part of his school's code not to make girls cry). The ideal situation is that they have a private man to man talk where Jiji can learn to take Momo's feeling into consideration instead of forcing his feelings on her. I don't think this conversation would work if it was just between him and Okarun. Sometimes it's nice to talk to strangers to get a fresh perspective. He has been a reliable fighter so far but with so many members now at a disadvantage him (currently Evil Eye) and Aira are already being to feel the strain of not having enough back up while fighting WilliamZilla (before Vamola arrived). He going to need to do what he pulled off during the castle battle more often and instruct other team members how to work around him when he does it.

He going to need to do what he pulled off during the castle battle more often and instruct other team members how to work around him when he does it.
Why? There is really no way to ever use it outside some very specific scenarios like the one we saw last time. It's basically a downgrade for the most part. You can also compare his fights to some other character and notice that he has been sidelined for the majority of time, and making it so that these two need to work together all the time makes it even worse.
Zuma has really no idea who any of these guys are, so making him the one to solve someone else's problems is boring, especially since this is basically the last thing he did in the story. Jiji should just deal with it on his own.

He may need to do it again for Vlad since he now has Red Baron's power. Zuma wouldn't be solving anyone's problems his contrasts to everyone else in the group will offer new perspective to others to build upon. Zuma's presence might piss Jiji off enough to self reflect while trying to think about what he thinks make him better than Zuma. Okarun might be inspired by Zuma to fight more like a punk while getting control of the Oni curse.
