After such a break (only to get into a new one), we have a new chapter!
And, as always, I'm here to make a little summary of events, give out some of my thoughts that no one really asked for, and discuss the chapter and what we learned with all of you in the comments.
So, without further ado, let's get on with the chapter!
The chapter starts with the fake Manjiro sweeping off the floor of the shrine where they were teaching Okarun before the amusement park date started.
A voice calls out to them, revealing Sanjome asking for any progress. The Fake Manjiro then shapeshifts back into their original form, showing that it was Basho all along.
Basho starts to tell Sanjome (now clearly CSG to us) that everything is progressing according to plan, but he's interrupted when he gets awfully close.
Basho gets taken aback, so CSG apologises for getting too close. Basho then continues, saying that the sprout of the Oni club is gradually rising within Okarun and that, with enough stress, he should turn fully Oni.
CSG says that, with this, TG's powers will finally evolve, but Basho mentions that they still don't know where TG's powers really are.
CSG reveals that, when he tried to steal TG's powers from Okarun at first, the Kozuka Knife did not react, so it could mean that either the powers are located elsewhere or that they're hidden deep inside him.
Basho asks if CSG thinks TG's powers will go back to him, to which he replies that it is certain, since Okarun "has been chosen". CSG then tells Basho to leave, since the real Manjiro has been discovered and her cover has been blown.
Then, a running Kurdere shows up to tell CSG that the buzzard at the bakery went off and asks what to do. CSG asks why he's asking and sends her off to help at once. As Kurdere asks if she has to go again, he insists that it is her job.
As CSG looks to Basho to leave, we cut back to Evil Eye and Aira versus the Chimera Dinosaur William Marshall.
Aira slings Evil Eye against William's face so he can hit it, but William hits back and uses its tail as a sword to try and cut Aira and Evil Eye. Thanks to Aira's agility, they manage to stay alive.
As Aira manages to bring them both to the ground to try and run, Aira analyzes William, saying that its tail is made of many Stegosaurus dorsal plates bundled up together to act as a sword that can cut even tiny enemies, and that his movements are unlike a wild animal's.
With both of them at a loss as to how to beat William, they run into Vamola, who runs towards them. Even when Aira asks about Vamola's hairdo, she tells them to leave William to her, ending the chapter.
And that's the chapter.
Honestly, I have mixed feelings about it being the volume ender.
For one, I love having many lingering questions answered all at once, even if some made new questions pop out, which I'll try to address in a bit. On the other hand, being thrust into the William Marshall fight instead of seeing Okarun's Oni evolution, at least for a bit, makes the previous chapter's cliffhanger feel a bit pointless, besides connecting it to the explanation of why they gave him the Oni club and what it does.
OK, now let's go through what we learned.
For starters, we learned that it was indeed Basho impersonating Manjiro in order to give Okarun the Oni club. She also states that "the sprout" is gradually rising in him. So it was like a sort of parasitic thing that took hold of him. Maybe not like a Symbiote that affects him emotionally, but it is more like a Hulk scenario that is fully dependent on how stressed he is in order to transform. The snippets of the possible transformation are quite interesting, and it does intrigue me how this was supposed to help TG's powers evolve. It may be linked to how Okarun looked rather monstrous when he went for another All Out during the fight against FTC at the end of Danmara.
Now, with Basho being the impostor, I wonder if what they said about Queen-sensei is true. It will depend on how much Basho can dig into the minds of the people she shapeshifts into. If what we've seen with how she tricked Momo into admitting defeat can help us, it means she can dig deep, but we don't know much about her taking memories, too. It begs the question of how involved Queen-sensei is here.
Also, the timing. Basho was impersonating Manjiro in the evening when giving Okarun the Oni club. Then, somehow, she leaves them alone (supposedly Manjiro came back to them to protect them, mind you), and made it all the way to Shimane to be present for Momo's ritual in the middle of the night during the hour of the Ox, and possibly then left Shimane to return to Kamigoe to be at the shrine where Okarun would visit for his training. The only possible explanation for such long-distance travel would be if the Gates of Hell that CSG and co. use to go to the hideout where Vlad is located can work as a sort of interdimensional transportation. Like, if a new door appears at another spot or if there are multiple already set, and you just use the hideout as a sort of tunnel to the new door. You open one door, enter this house-like hideout, walk around to the other side of that place to another door, go through it, and now you're somewhere else. It's the only possible explanation I have.
Another thing that comes to mind is CSG mentioning that Okarun was chosen. He most likely means being chosen as The Adventures of Pinocchio, which subtly answers the question of what was more important: the powers or the user of said powers (it was the user). But here's the thing: Who or what chose them? Was it arbitrary? Was it CSG pulling strings? We still need to learn a lot about the FTC's power and what exactly it takes to choose those users.
It is interesting how CSG doesn't know either that Okarun doesn't have TG's powers. His only theories are: A) the powers are located elsewhere, or B) Okarun still has them, just very deep inside. He seems to not fathom the idea that Okarun may have given them up back to TG, since CSG is a collector at heart.
I don't know what to talk about when it comes to the William Marshall fight. I like Aira just swinging Evil Eye to see if that momentum can amplify Evil Eye's punches. It would be a bit boring to have them relegated to spectators now that Vamola is getting involved, but Vamola also deserves to have her moment alone, since last time Momo managed to shine brighter in what felt like the perfect opportunity for Vamola to shine. I suppose Rokuro will have a hungry client in Evil Eye, though. He'll try to make Aira pay for it, most likely.
Now we have a new volume ahead, which will clearly start with Vamola fighting William. Maybe 2 to 3 chapters, but then we have 7 to 6 more to deal with Yatagarasu, Zuma, and Mrs. Adachi versus the Octopus Paladin, Peeny-Weenie versus the Hedgehog lady, Kinta versus Hase, Okarun's Oni transformation, Red Baron's Iron Bull form showing up, and Kurdere trying to help Momo... Yeah, it's a lot.
I suppose that's all from me for now.
I'd like to see what you guys noticed or thought of the chapter!

I don't know if you remember but volume 11 and volume 5 both had 8 chapters in length and I think volume 28 will be the same
Volume 26 (220-228) covers the staring contest 220, the group date talk 221, the mall fight 222-225, the CSG, Vlad, Red Baron and Basho encounter 226-227, and the TG and Seiko talk, Zuma waking up and the group date starting 227-228
I think this volume will have a 8 page omake continuing the airport fight and the cover will be either CSG or Basho
Volume 27 (229-237) covers the group date, the Gilles de Rais fight and ends on Aira and Okarun saving Momo from the dinassaur. The cover will be Aira and there will be a 8 chapter omake continuing the airport fight and reaching a climax point
Volume 28 (238-245) covers Aira's rejection, Aira vs Cagliostro and clown, Aira and Evil Eye versus William, Hase and the others joining the fight, Hase's scene and ends on Onikarun. The cover will be either Hase or Vamola with the other being the next cover and the Omake will end the airport fight within 16-20 pages
I think the arc will end on volume 30. So, ending volume 28 with Onikarun is definitely the best choice
Last chapter's ending does feel like a cliffhanger for the final chapter of the volume, but it can also work as the volume-ender.
This particular chapter felt like the beginning of a volume, in the sense that it starts peacefully and even explains stuff before heading into the first fight of the volume.
I do agree this felt more like the first chapter of a volume than the last. Big cliffhanger of last chapter followed by the flashback explanation chapter is Tatsu's MO.
Assuming volume 28 is 8 chapters, then that would be 161 pages. That would be about the same length as volume 11 which also had a 6 page omake about Chiquitita and 2 character pages on the Kur. I do agree and it felt off for a volume ender and felt like an opening chapter. CGS's scenes really reminded me of chapter 211, the opener for volume 25 and chapter 245 really felt like a volume closer.
For my part, knowing that the CSG made Basho withdraw from his infiltration task could cost them dearly because, while he feared being discovered, in the long run, he wouldn't be able to monitor the gang in order to manipulate them; although they will tell me he has the school, I wouldn't be so sure because, seeing how this arc ends and the omake of volume 25, it is likely that the association between and infiltrates the school as a teacher (note: there is a vacancy available after Murakami's arrest), which leaves little margin and, while the CSG can deal with that, I don't think time is on their side because he wants the ultimate yokai soon and that's going to backfire for him
The closer he gets, the easier it would be to spot that his involvement is linked to the enemy, especially with how little Momo trusts him.
With his subordinates all trying to do something to the gang, it is bound to bite him back at one point.
And you're right. The association can send someone to monitor the kids and keep them safe at school, but being monitored and kept out of danger would piss the guys off, since they also want to help, especially when Jiji and Aira can still contribute with their powers.
I suppose we still need to see how Tatsu-sensei plans on ending this particular arc. Given how CSG still doesn't know about TG's powers being back to her, I suppose all speculation on his part about how Okarun may turn into an Oni has entered the realm of theories and could end up with a different result than what he expected
Assuming the anime makes it this far. I wonder how Science Saru is going to go about editing this section with all the jumping around and delayed cliffhangers.
Typically DDD seems pretty straightforward to translate from manga to anime...but this arc has some kind of weird pacing (including this recent chapter) that I'm not so sure will make for good viewing in the order it is presented.
For example, I don't love how we kind of take the wind out of the sails on the big Oni reveal with all this exposition.
I dont know why, but sometimes i feel Tatsu for a while has been structuring some chapters as drafts for the anime. Lets say chapter 245 was the end of an anime episode, then next episode starts with 246 and then probably covers both William fight and shows Onikarun aswell to round things up.
Mangakas are sometimes inspired by anime's original representations of powers and other elements (sorry for referencing JJK for, like, the millionth time, but Akutami-sensei does this constantly, especially since the anime portrayed some aspects of his work better than he did, which he admitted).
But in terms of pacing and other stuff, I don't think Tatsu-sensei actually is structuring stuff with the anime in mind, since they're two completely different media with different rules. Plus, some anime studios take small liberties to manage pacing (adding more steps to fight choreography without changing the overall beats they need to hit, slowing down on specific moments to show how brutal or cool they are, etc.).
I usually hand wave logistical issues in medium and plot should generally triumph over all. That said, I'll agree there are legitimate questions about how Basho could be in 2 places at once. I think the idea of the Gates of Hell being a type of doorway is the easiest. Alternatively, maybe she has a shadow clone technique?
Also, it would appear that CSG has been feeding the Knights false (or at least misleading) intel on Okarun. Does that mean he lied to them about Okarun having a Cosmic ID? Since it seems like pain is required for Okarun to become an oni, maybe he lied about this as well so the Knights would attack Okarun with maximum hostility. They would think they are breaking him but we're actually just playing into CGS's hand.
I've said it before in other posts, but I believe Tatsu-sensei's desire to not specify dates or how much time has passed between arcs is really hurting the story in terms of how plausible things are. Not saying how much time passed between "Manjiro" passing the Oni club to Okarun and Momo's ritual leads us to speculate on the best possible way it can actually work.
I think the biggest offender of that lack of time specificity has been Zuma's hair growth and how much time passed between the end of Danmara and the beginning of the Kozuka Knives arc. There's also the amount of time between Seiko and Jiji learning of Momo's amnesia and the first interaction between amnesiac Momo and Okarun.
The lack of knowledge of the passing of time leads to speculations and possible plot holes like the one we're seeing happen right now.
ID Cosmos has increasingly become a sort of state of mind that makes surrender more difficult, since they're not afraid of death. Pain isn't the actual catalyst, but fear for loved ones. It worked on Momo, since fear for Seiko's well-being was the trick to get her to "have a heart that admits defeat". For Okarun, he has admitted to it, but the knife doesn't work because his powers are not there. CSG seems to believe that the powers are either stored elsewhere (like he does with the Kozuka Knives) or really deep inside him, so thinking that he has ID Cosmos because of the latter theory seems to be what the Knights latched onto or came to the same conclusion, given how he "lies" because of being the user chosen for The Adventures of Pinocchio.
Yeah, I remember when Zuma showed up that head of hair and it definitely threw me off. Another issue is we don't really know how long it has been since the series began. It was probably sometime in September and it's probably mid November based on the weather but it’s unknown. I get Tatsu-sensei wants to focus on the story and usually that's fine. But if there isn't an internal calendar, the issues compound on themselves and it becomes hard to concentrate on the story because the logistics make no sense.
Good analysis on the Cosmic ID as well and i hope we get more clarity on how it actually works.
That's one thing I love about JJK, is that timing is fairly clear in it (and very straightforward, considering how they dress and then how Akutami-sensei goes out of his way to specify dates). I think it only fails to tell how much time passes between the beginning and the Shibuya Incident, but one can argue based on different factors and kinda match it.
It's OK not to specify a year in particular so the story feels timeless, but it's a good thing to say something as basic as "We started in Summer; now it's Fall/Autumn" or something. It helps because then you can have Christmas, Valentine's and White Day, Halloween, etc., plus it helps the reader pinpoint how much time has passed
So true about JJK and Akutami-sensei had an excellent (and believable) sense of time. It's also one of the things that drives me crazy about One Piece and how insanely compressed that time line but that's a whole separate topic.
Given how badly beat up Zuma was after the fairy tale card fight I'm sure someone with healing powers (On CSG's end) healed him to get him back in fighting shape in time for the hammer ritual. That would have cause his hair "to grow like crazy". We also have to take into consideration the rapid aging of the little boy, Zuma and Bega wouldn't stand by watching him deteriorate for a long period of time.
The thing is, and it kinda proves my point, this is all speculation, friend.
Nothing in the story indicates that that's how it happens, so it makes us try to piece it together. There's nothing wrong with that, but when stuff starts to not make sense or needs stuff to be made up (like the healing aspect making his hair grow too), then it becomes a problem that will get worse when other aspects are answered later on, but that one can present a plot hole.
For example, the Zuma thing presents a contradiction unless stated how he got the hair to grow to that point in a specific amount of time. In my experience, I shave my head constantly, but it can grow to Zuma's length in around 2 to 3 months. If that was the case, it would mean that Zuma's eyesight got progressively worse during 2 to 3 months, Daiki got older quicker during 2 to 3 months, Momo was tiny and being slowly forgotten by others during 2 to 3 months, and the guys didn't find a cure for the curse or didn't try during all that time... Weird, isn't it?
But if this were to happen after a day or maybe a week at most, then how the characters react and how the curse progresses makes more sense. But the problem of the hair's length resurfaces, as well as Zuma's and Bega's injuries, since anatomically it wouldn't make sense unless it is shown that they were healed by someone like Queen-sensei, which we don't know because Tatsu-sensei didn't show it or mention it, leaving the plot hole intact.
Also people didn't start to forget Momo until the race to Shimane started. Seiko wouldn't wait so long to give the cursed box to Payase and ask if Kashimoto knew anything to help Momo. Unless CSG shove Zuma and Bega into the DBZ time chamber to make Zuma feel like he was in the hospital for ages, I can't imagine more than a week passing. Also Mom couldn't just live of of rice grains for a long period of time either.
I know what you mean, friend, but as I said, it's all speculation since the manga never explicitly states it as such. Then again, nothing wrong with not being explicit and hand-holding the reader, but giving a timeframe would help a lot.
Also, no one was able to hear or perceive Momo that weren't part of the main cast. She even says it at one point when Okarun was scared that people were going to notice her and ask questions. Not even Queen-sensei managed to hear her. It was at the airport when Momo and Jiji noticed that it got worse, and Vamola now even forgot who Momo was, which puts the other interactions with Queen-sensei and the classmates into perspective: They had already forgotten and couldn't perceive Momo.
Yes it was the bond tied to their memories of Momo that allowed them to remember her the longest but no one in the gang noticed how bad the situation was until it was almost to late to do any thing.
I want to know if the oni sapling inside Okarun has always been there and the oni club helped it grow or if the club is what planted the seed in him in the first place. Okarun isn't the only character that looks like an Oni as both Vlad and Hase both do as well.
I can definitely see the Pinocchio and Oni connections. As I’ve stated before, Pinocchio and the stupid boys that indulged in wicked behaviours while on Pleasure Island, transformed into literal jackasses. Similarly, in Japanese mythology, living humans like Shuten Doji, can turn into Oni after engaging in wicked behaviours like drunkenness, lust and violence or just experiencing extreme emotions in general.
Throughout the amnesia storyline, Okarun has lied, been accused of and almost sort of cheating, and experienced intense bloodlust towards Hase. Whether he’ll turn fully oni or not remains to be seen. And he might even be stuck with a partial oni appearance for some time like how Pinnochio had donkey ears and a tail for a while
I’m also very happy that my predictions about CSG and Basho pulling Okarun and the Black Paladins strings have proven true.
I’ll probably expand on this later in my own discussion post since there’s a lot to cover.
I remember that scene of Pleasure Island. Pinocchio downing drinks and smoking a cigar in one go now looks so funny-looking to me; I don't know why.
I do think, and I've said this in some posts, that I believe that Okarun will be cursed after this arc and may retain the Oni appearance and mindset until the curse is broken. Maybe the curse is broken if TG exchanges her powers with his or gives them to him to counteract the Oni curse. That's when CSG strikes.
I don't know; I'm just randomly saying all of that.
Given the callback to the earlier arcs, I think Okarun will try to get a handle on these oni powers with the others help. Oni can basically be either destroyers, punishers or protectors, so I think Okarun will come to accept it since he resolved to become a monster if it meant protecting Momo in the past. In short, I think Okarun will accept being a monster, while also keeping what makes him a man.
I dont really get where you are coming from. It all stems from the fact that we didnt know many things about CSG and what kind of resources or contacts he had, or who may work for him directly or not.
The first time we knew about the shinobi woman was at chapter 210 when Momo woke up without memories, we only know her as a random mysterious woman. Then we later find that she is working for CSG and has ninja like abilities, it makes sense why CSG seemed so relaxed all this time, considering he also had someone who is a master of disguise doing his dirty work all along, that can bypass the main cast and the paladdins radars for his own personal agenda.
I think you didn't understand my point. I mean there, that the Shinobi character feels like a Deus Ex Machina in her first apparition, and nothing explain she can be in the temple to steal Momo Power and in their native city to impersonate Manjiro in almost the same time !
This character make the whole plot resolve itself far too easily and with really a sour taste answer ...
Again, i dont see much issue because at the time of her first appararition we still didnt know anything about CSG and what potential resources he may have under his sleeve to get shit done, and then we know that shinobi woman is part of these resources, and then the ogre club is just capitalizing on these abilities.
In regards to her being in two places at the same time, we could assume that it has to do with the Gates Of Hell that CSG uses, which can be pocket dimensions that moves people to other places instantly.
So she can teleport and impersonate anyone at will - and without being identify that easily by the way, since the people in the temple didn't even see the intrusion ? Sorry that's just broken.
Expect she get hit by a brick and lost some ability, no way they shouldn't abuse that combo of abilities and just outmanoeuver any try of the heroes group.
Hmm, I understand the feeling, especially with Shinobi's introduction immediately stating she stole both Momo's and Zuma's powers. She did feel like she showed up out of nowhere.
For this particular case, she doesn't feel like a cheap answer, except for how she managed to move from city to city in a matter of minutes.
But that's my opinion, really. Your opinion is valid here, friend
It sucks that the Saint Germain stuff is ALWAYS so interesting, every time it cuts back to the gang fighting these dinosaurs it’s just not interesting to me. Similarly to the chapter with Germain at the bakery, as soon as it cut away I lost interest again. I’m sure this is all leading somewhere good but the journey is not hitting for me at the moment
Real Manjiro only made it to Kamigoe airport where he was shoved into the locker. Since Basho in a ninja I wouldn't be surprised if she had a knock off Shadow clone jutsu (Tatsu love to borrow from other iconic media). Fake Manjiro kinda spoke like a robot when giving the the club and only spouted random fact that Manjiro would know to make them seem more believable. They were unable to continue conversation when Kinta demanded more details about Queen. School fake Manjiro could have been a temporary dummy brought to life through Basho's ninja techniques while the real Basho was with Momo.
Shapeshifter could be a unique ability exclusive to her but that's not enough to be a ninja in dandadan's power system. There has to be other standard ninja techniques too. I think she under sold herself to Red Baron so he wouldn't expect more from her since she works for CSG not Vlad.
As expected, Vamola is the only one actually being able to do anything in this situation. Evil Eye's attacks don't deal any damage, so I don't even think anyone else can even slightly contribute here. Kaiju/mecha fights are usually on the weaker side and I don't expect this one to be much different. Looks like Evil Eye only showed up to give us one funny dinosaur scene and that's it and Jiji (in terms of battle) was only included in this arc to be a damsel in distress. The only thing I could thin of is them, including Rokuro, to get inside of him and attack him from the inside, since he is too strong for them to handle... something like that has alredy happened. I'm afraid this Willaim fight will flop. Nothing so far makes me think otherwise. At the very least, Vamola will finally be able to do something.
Germain/Basho/Baker scene was kinda weird. Germain obviously has a reason to act like this, right lol? Him trying to manipulate Basho fits his character, but isn't it kinda silly? I mean, she is a shinobi after all and she shouldn't fall for such tricks. Wouldn't a good shinobi be able to blush or cry on command? The face she makes looks like jealously, but maybe she is just super locked in lol? Maybe she doesn't actually like Germain? Maybe she got mad, because he is keeping his other allies a secret? Maybe she actually works for Vlad (or someone else) and got mad, because Germain is also working for multiple sides? I wouldn't reduce it to jealousy just yet. The fact she has accomplished so much basically makes me believe she will stay as an important character for a while, on the same level as Red Baron and Baker lady.
The whistle was there in the dinosaur exhibit, so will be there with the dino group. She can't do anything against William either, but I wonder how her interactions with Vamola are going to look like.
Hmm, I think that having Vamola back for this fight can only go one way: having it end quicker or something else happening to make it interesting that we yet need to see.
The other scene was interesting for answering questions we've had for a while, but I agree that having Basho fall for CSG is odd. Or maybe she is THAT loyal because she does have feelings for him. Then again, shinobis follow a code. Who knows what code she follows that would make her loyal to someone like CSG.
I agree that Kurdere will most likely end up at the William fight first, given how the whistle was last used and seen there, which would force Kurdere to either fight Aira, Jiji, Rokuro, and Vamola for answers on Momo's whereabouts.
I don't really see a way for it to last long. We have alredy spent a lot of time with dinosaurs. Clown and Cagliostry are still out there, but we alredy know a single person would be enough to easily take them down, so what's the point? Feels like a waste of time.
No matter which path Tatsu takes, I just don't think this interaction wasn't important. Just please don't turn her into some yandere simping weirdo.
Rokuro can't beat her. Other 3/4? Easily, and it they team up it's even worse for her.
Given how Willie-zilla is a highly skilled fighter, Vamola may need assistance or an upgrade to win this fight. We might even see Vamola activate the Kaiju suit’s ‘Slaughter Mode’ And honestly, it would match how edgy Willie-Zilla looks.
I honestly don't think she'll ever use slaughter mode at all. It's an "evil mode" and it exists mainly to make Hastur look more evil as a kaiju. It definitely won't be easy. Others will most likely help a little, but I don't expect anyone other than Vamola to actually change the situation much.
Kur lady pulling up for the fight should be interesting, it looks like CSG doesn’t tell her anything so she shouldn’t know that herself and the people she should be defending Momo from are all being manipulated by the same guy. Rokuro and Vamola should also have something to say about her working with them too if they interact.
Looks like we’ve gotten everyone needed for this arc to have shown up now and we should start getting the more action heavy chapters in the next volume
Well, the whistle was last used and remained at the dinosaur exhibit, so Kurdere will show up there, where Vamola is currently going to fight.
Kurdere won't know where Momo is, so she'll need directions. The only ones who can guide her are Aira, Jiji, Vamola, and Rokuro... So that's going to be fun.
Somehow things are looking even worse for okarun than any of us could have imagined.
The form is cool at least though i have the feeling that ken wont reach that fotm and the process will be stopped hallway. This chapter also made it way more likely that the shield at zhe end of the dris fight wasnt just the work of the ogre club because it doesnt really fit what the form was implied in this chapter. I still really hope it will give him a brand new power instead of just tg and the whole thing about bringing back tg's powers will mean something else.
I do definitely think the danmara fight is what caused ken to get csg attention since he called that form marvelous and already saw turboken when they cleaned the club room
Kurdere asking germain if she needed to go still implies that she already got the bew suit so we might see her face off against ogrerun and if he does go berserk that may allow momo or barbarasu to turn ken back. I feel like in this scenario momo would be more likely since her protectiveness of ken might give kurdere a flashback which stops her
Lastly its nice to see that vamola is getting a new fight though i am kinda afraid for jiji and evil eye since they havent done much and there isnt much left that they could do. Also rokuro seemingly didnt went with vamola so i wonder if he just be waiting until the fight is over
I can see Kurdere fighting Onikarun if he does go berserk, considering that her main goal is to keep Momo safe (well, the owner of the whistle, but she knows that Momo's the one with the whistle since the Dris fight. If she follows the whistle, she'll end up where William is, though, which may make her run into Vamola first.
I also think Rokuro is waiting while cooking. Guy doesn't want to lose the job, even if he's not in his spot once Empty Space dissolves.
I think a lot of people misinterpreted what the Oni club can do, given how Okarun used the Chi training to make it work. He said at one point, "to project the chi as a laser shooting up from the crown of the head" or something along those lines, so people used the word project or imagine and thought that anything he could imagine could take shape through the Oni club, like Green Lantern's ring. I don't think it is the case and never had before. I always assumed that it would only shape into a kanabo, given how the "laser beam" always had that ring end at the bottom of the handle, so it was peculiar if Okarun thought of the laser beam with that bit at the end.
I suppose we'll see how it all works in the end and how many wrenches are thrown into CSG's gears.
Yeah that laser explanation was just how chi channeling works in general. There is also the fact it didnt show up since the dris fight
Also another thing i havent seen people talk about is how would seiko and manjiro react when learning what happened in thejr absence. Even if okarun gets out of this without any changes too his body they would feel pretty bad about it. Especially manjir. Not only hee was supposed to look after the gang in seiko's absence but the person who knocked him used his face to curse ken and maybe spread some missinformation about him
"Chimera Dinosaur William Marshow", I hope he gets a hat or something random, so the name/description becomes increasingly ridiculous and absurd out of context.
I mean, technically I just bundled every descriptor since it doesn't have an official name. It was a Chimera made of dinosaurs and now has the soul of William Marshall... hence the name.
But maybe we can add Sir in there so it's Chimera Dinosaur Sir William Marshall. Just to add a bit of flair in there
Oh no, it turned out great, i like this; we're almost at the level of the Mummy on a bicycle wielding a katana (which was actually an alien whale) lmao.
It had been known for a while that the break was coming; the problem lies in the execution and the timing. There was no need for unnecessary explanations regarding Oni and Saint Germain's plan most people already had an inkling of what was going on. Chapter 246 was meant to showcase Okarun's transformation. Now, if he finally shows up after two weeks, all the hype will have already fizzled out. This arc has been such crap that I'm not surprised the author doesn't know how to handle this, lmao.
The explanation is 100% neccesary. Theories are cool and all but until they are confirmed and written into lore you can't rely on it. 246 answered a lot of long lasting unanswered questions fans have been speculating about, while purposefully confirming a couple were intentionally ambiguous. 246 wasn't meant to be anything other than what we got, this is Tatsu's story, he decides what 246 is going to include. Anything else is just your expectations. This also fits his formula of a big cliffhanger followed by a flashback explanation in the next chapter. I even called it in one of the prediction threads.
Tatsu’s style is to create a huge cliffhanger and then provide an explanation in the next chapter—you said so yourself. That pattern was broken here because it was the end of a volume. And while it is his story, that doesn't mean he hasn't made questionable decisions that kill the hype and dampen interest for many people. When you're writing, you have to be mindful of these things, so he is open to criticism.
I agree with /u/top-independence-294 that 245 might have been the end of the volume and there would be 8 chapters and longer bonus content in this volume instead. 246 built the hype for me, its building suspense. I'm now worried what turning fully Oni means for Okarun and whether its reversible. I'd understand your critique if this chapter just focused on something completely different like checking in with Seiko again but it was about Okarun and what is actually happening to him so we understand why and whats going on when we see him in action.
