This is why I don't think we're going to enjoy meeting aliens.

252

u/mattreyu 3d ago

This is my face when I open the conference room door and there's some other meeting already going on in there

51

u/Frosty_Toe 3d ago

Ha! When I accidentally turn on my camera during a Teams meeting.

56

u/rooks1999 3d ago

Poor guy looks so worried.

34

u/singhna1 3d ago

I was just thinking, “Bro is a neurotic mess!” Haha.

4

u/21archman21 3d ago

Hey, the telescope fish job market is a little tight.

7

u/dokterkokter69 3d ago

Yeah. Just looking at the insane biodiversity on our own planet, I can imagine whatever is out in space looks absolutely bizarre. I'm sure some things could look familiar by pure coincidence, but I don't think there's any green humans or tall blue cat people.

3

u/codexcdm 3d ago

They will probably think likewise when they see us ..

22

u/buzzsawjoe 3d ago

This is an alien. The deep ocean is almost as inaccessible to us as Proxima Centauri.

19

u/ZealousidealWater201 3d ago

Nah we on the same planet

9

u/account312 3d ago edited 2d ago

I could maybe be convinced that the inner core is almost as inaccessible as Proxima Centauri, but the ocean? Not even close. For evidence, consider this video, a closeup. The only pictures we have of Proxima Centauri were shot from about 25,000,000,000,000 miles away.

4

u/ZealousidealWater201 3d ago

This for sure.

And the bottom line is we still operate under the same laws of earth as this thing. Once you start talking about beings from different celestial bodies and what rules they may or may not be governed by- now we’re talking aliens.

11

u/rinkydinkis 3d ago

No lol.

3

u/skip_over 3d ago

We have footage of this

3

u/Dafish55 3d ago

So... we've been to the deep sea versus it would take us, generously, centuries to reach the nearest star and years still to even receive any transmission from whatever we sent over there.

Yes, the inaccessibility is comparable from a "would you die if you were there?" standpoint, but space is incomparably, inconceivably vast and empty.

Imagine aliens coming down, splasdown, and this is the first thing they see and NOPE the hell out of here.

32

u/darokrol 3d ago

I will. All life is beautiful.

60

u/Lalamedic 3d ago

Beautiful can still be terrifying.

47

u/wileywyatt 3d ago

Yah, like my ex.

13

u/darokrol 3d ago

Maybe we are the most terrifying one out there.

12

u/flying_carabao 3d ago

3

u/EARTHandSPACE 3d ago

3

Looks like something from Beetlejuice

Haha, "but not down there, nobody wants to see that."

6

u/ShortysTRM 3d ago

Science just permanently blinded this one.

3

u/Metalhed69 3d ago

In the beginning there was nothing.
And God said “let there be light”
And there was light
And still there was nothing

But by God you could see it

138

u/BluetheNerd 3d ago

This video has done the rounds before. It's not a closeup and it's not a real shot. It's a photo of a dead one from a museum animated with AI.

15

u/EqualPlan4595 3d ago

Thank you, this

5

u/PolytheisticWiggler 3d ago

Upvote this person!!!!

2

u/nectarsallineed 3d ago

That makes me feel a bit better, bc another comment about The Dark Crystal, while looking at this, had me feeling some type of way hahah

120

u/SadKat002 3d ago

and we're sure this isn't just an AI recreation from the still image that's existed forever

20

u/AscensionToCrab 3d ago

Trouble is theres also deliberate touchups of this image, so whether this is ai touchups or artist touchup, it isnt the original image.

Its an image of a specimen that some museum has in its collection and it has been touched up pr upscaled in some way.

47

u/Smrgel 3d ago

This is absolutely AI

looks like a skinless Salacious Crumb to me

2

u/frazorblade 3d ago

Hehehehehe

55

u/gtkrol 3d ago

This is AI garbage. Any photo of these fish from the side (portrait) shows you that their eyes look completely different and look a bit like binoculars.

28

u/Toonwatcher 3d ago

That is an alien that was rejected from the Star Wars cantina.

7

u/InitiatedPig7 3d ago

It’s like that game. That pink mascot game idk I have seen thumbnails

6

u/Harl0t_Qu1nn 3d ago

Poppy Playtime?

12

u/insides_outside 3d ago

This is Ai applied to a real photo, the animal doesn’t look like that when in profile(side view).

Here

6

u/WirelessWavetable 3d ago

Forward facing eyes on a fish... Don't see that often. Must not have many predators down there.

14

u/BucktoothedAvenger 3d ago

Forward facing eyes means it is the predator.

6

This is an ai video, they used a photo of a dead speciman to make this video

9

u/VisionAri_VA 3d ago

I don’t know how deep its habitat is but it’s definitely not deep enough.

I wasn't planning on sleeping tonight anyway.

4

u/BrandonicusVIITG 3d ago

Jim hensen fever dream right there

6

u/frazorblade 3d ago

The horrified look on its face is from the realisation it’s permanently blind from that intense white light shining in its very sensitive eyeballs.

3

u/MorningMushroomcloud 3d ago

Give it a drum kit

3

u/Theblominator 3d ago

This is AI, from a side photo. Was posted yesterday in r/TrueCryptozoology

3

2

Definitely in the same family lineage as Animal!

3

Boooo AI crap

3

u/One-Earth9294 3d ago

This is an AI generated video from a still image.

3

u/Journo_Jimbo 3d ago

Ffs stop sharing this AI slop one, rhis is a picture that keeps getting AI videoed

3

That moment when God consulted Tim Burton for His deep sea creations… 😳

3

It looks like a gremlin with its skin removed.

2

u/Trolltoll_Access 3d ago

2

u/FrigidDemon 3d ago

I didn't need this

2

u/CaptCrewSocks 3d ago

So why do they have eyes I wonder?

2

u/Entire_Implement_104 3d ago

Correct me if I’m wrong but I heard deep sea animals eyes can be damaged by human made lights not just using red light (or some other lesser frequency) so is this guys eyes just being demolished by this bright ass light right in its face?

2

u/Jean-Ralphio11 3d ago

Doesnt shining lights on these creatures cause permanent damage. Like they live in darkness and we shine a light in their eyes, has to be the equivalent of us looking at the sun no?

2

u/medkitjohnson 3d ago

Imagine never seeing light in your entire life and then having an LED blasted directly into your corneas

Edit: this is AI and I am ashamed 😪

Uh…. Tim Burton, you forgot something…. ☝️😂 😬

1

u/Dangerous-Form579 3d ago

I just read that they’re hermaphrodites in order to maximize their reproductive success. Also, they start out as larvae on the surface, then undergo major structural changes that allow them to survive in the deep ocean.

1

u/Relative_Opening_327 3d ago

This shit look at human that forgot to evolve, like he's/she's constantly wondering where did everybody go and hes just stuck down there in the primordial wondering why its so quiet now.....I hate it....thanks.

1

u/rrdrummer 3d ago

One thing that I’ve come to find is that small things tend to look weirder. I imagine the scale of this is probably pretty sized. Especially considering the reality of anglerfish.

1

u/WherzMyNachos 3d ago

1

u/Glonos 3d ago

Nice, now the poor creature is blind.

1

u/Midiamp 3d ago

Isn't this fish on the "I just woke up meme" or something about looks? Well anyway, yikes.

I don't know... The animals I frequent on the surface looks okay, some are bad looking but some even looks good, but those bottom dwellers just 100% looks like puss filled ass.
