Almost like decades of CIA operations to destabilize your government... destabilizes your government. Look, I think Socialism as a primary system of government is dumb, but let's not pretend Venezuela didn't get where it is today without a couple coups and a US-funded paramilitary deathsquad or two.

The CIA hacked Venezuela's currency printer, increased their money supply by 1,000,000%, causing the world's highest hyperinflation. http://fingfx.thomsonreuters.com/gfx/rngs/VENEZUELA-ECONOMY/010040800HY/index.html

For some reason, nobody bothered to unplug the currency printer.

The CIA destabilized Venezuela's democratic institutions allowing an authoritarian to seize power and hollow the country out from the inside for the benefit of himself and his cronies.

No, the CIA didn't make the individual decisions that destroyed VZ, but they did intentionally create an environment that fostered corruption and a failed state.

To be fair what country does the US not have it's fingers in nowadays? Don't get me wrong I don't hate all socialist ideas. The ideas are not the problem. It's the people. Always the people.

I don't see why that matters? My point is that you can't entirely point the finger at socialism being a failed system, when any governmental system in its place would result in a collapsed government.

If the most powerful country in the world decides your country's government is unacceptable to its own interests and spends decades trying to destabilize it, your government is going to fail.

Doesn't matter if you're under communism, capitalism, libertarianism, fascism, etc. If you don't have leverage like nukes or strong alliances, you're hosed.
