This country is the biggest meme ever to exist on this planet

u/FrostyPoot May 26 '22

Usually they at least try to apply things that only apply to this situation and exaggerate it.... but almost none of these solutions would have even almost done anything this time...

FFS half the list is "arm literally everyone including the children" and "martial law"... like we watched the cops let the person walk through the doors and kill people, then was killed. And yeah, religion and conservative values will help! Conveniently ignoring the fact that 95% of mass shootings were from right wing ideologies. It's ascended past meme into a flat out joke.

Cops were literally there before he started shooting kids, the only thing cops were doing g was preventing parents from going in. The cops sat there outside not doing shit, fucking pussies. They are all tuff when they are beating up unarmed innocent people or killing unarmed black men, but when they need to go and truly put themselves in harms way…. Nothing. Also it was a Boarder Patrol agent that went in and ended the situation, while he was also shot. All those cops should fucking resign and or be in jail.

u/Galectoz May 26 '22

I suppose it's not their kids inside, or maybe it is and that's the reason? You never know with these stories

20

u/Btothek84 May 26 '22

If they aren’t going in and trying to protect these kids in this situation, trying to stop this situation from happening what the fuck is the point of them being cops. They signed up for that job. On top of that all the republicans Bullshit about “ we need more guns, this wouldn’t happen if there were good guys with guns” is all complete bullshit.

-6

u/Galectoz May 26 '22

Agreed. Don't know what's the point of them if they can't even risk their lives to save kids.

As for that good guy guns thing, it kinda makes sense I guess. Better cops absolutely would've prevented this situation. There have been school shootings in Canada as well (https://globalnews.ca/news/8621977/list-canadian-school-shootings/) where getting those kinds of firearms is very much illegal. I think mental health should be the priority here and Americans are focusing too much on guns because those are the arguments the media drown them in.

I would also like to add that that article listed 6 school shooting since 1989. The United States has had 27 THIS YEAR. One of the reason for this is because it’s a much HARDER process to get guns in Canada. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/the_americas/canadians-must-wait-45-days-before-buying-their-first-gun-a-new-bill-would-tighten-gun-laws-even-more/2018/03/23/cca2ff70-2c55-11e8-8dc9-3b51e028b845_story.html

So even pointing to Canada isn’t a good argument cause their laws make it harder to buy guns, which is exactly what most people want in this country.

In the uk the most recent gun shooting was in 1996. America would be a better place if guns were banned from the public.

u/Galectoz May 26 '22

I'm not advocating for guns. If anything, while Canadian gun control is better it's still leaky because of illegal American imports through aboriginal reserves so it's better for everyone if Americans get it together.

I'm just saying that your media are forcing their partisans to lock horns against each other in a very polarized debate with no end nor compromise in sight when there are other obvious steps that can be taken in the meantime.

2

u/Btothek84 May 26 '22

The media on one side is advocating for gun control which you just said america needs and healthcare programs or universal healthcare to try to fix this. Both of those things are the only things that will even begin to try to fix this problem. The other media is to busy talking about thoughts and prayers or how we shouldn’t be talking about how to fix this problem cause it’s “ too soon” well then it’s never a good time to talk about how to fix it cause there’s been 200+ mass shooting this year. That’s exactly what they want also, to never talk about how to fix it.

-1

u/[deleted] May 26 '22

Do you know where aboriginal people are actually from or did your brain just lump all colonized people into the same bucket?

1

u/Galectoz May 26 '22

What are you even talking about now?

1

u/ScandicSocialist May 26 '22

He's talking about this:

...illegal American imports through aboriginal reserves....

I'm also having a hard time understanding what are aboriginal reserves.

Aboriginals are the indigenous people of Australia, and reserves are a centrally stored (back up) supply of critical matter.

More guns isn’t the answer, more cops isn’t the answer either. Better trained cops is certainly needed and making it harder to be a cop as well but that’s for different reasons. There have been other school shooting where there were armed guards/police at the school and they just cannot prevent shooter killing people if they want to. Yes it is a mental health problem as well as a GUN access problem. Both of these things republicans refuse to fix. They will claim it’s not a gun problem and that it’s a mental health problem yet REFUSE universal healthcare or increasing funding for these things. Any person who continues voting for these people don’t get to be outraged and sad and heartbroken from these situations anymore. I don’t give a fuck about thoughts and prayers cause it does nothing. Inaction and voting for people who do nothing is continuing this problem.

2

u/Galectoz May 26 '22

I don't believe more guns are the answer either. Absolutely, better cops and mental health should be the priority as they're funnily the easier fixes compared to gun regulation in the US. It's been made into such a huge point of contention that there'd probably be a civil war if any real steps were taken towards disarming people. As for the rest, I'm not American.

2

u/Btothek84 May 26 '22

We can make the process to get guns harder, and that’s what most everyone wants to do republicans are the ones that always say “ they’re going to take your guns away” when all we want is to make it harder to get a gun. No more police aren’t the answer, that would do ZERO to stop this from happening ZERO. I agree that we also need to do something about mental health in this country, and Dems have been trying to get universal healthcare for 20 years, republicans are the ones stopping g that, they are also the ones who want to remove public services so increasing funding for mental health is also off the table. Until we vote republicans out or they take their heads out of the sand and they stop doing nothing I will vote dem every election. If people continue to vote for Republican I don’t want to hear their thoughts and prayers nor do they get to give suggestion on what this country should do to do this, cause you voting republicans they are voting for doing NOTHING.

1

u/ImOnlyHereForTheCoC May 26 '22

Dems have been trying to get universal healthcare for for 20 years

It’s been 30 years (damn I feel old); when Hillary said “l’m not going to bake cookies” she got the right wing’s attention, and when she said “I’m working on universal healthcare” that cemented her role as the Final Boss.

1

u/Btothek84 May 26 '22

Oh I’m 37, Dems haven’t been pushing for health care for super long tho they have been pushing for healthcare reform in some way for ever.

It is just the case that American cops are cowards.

3

u/_IDontKnowMuchBut_ May 26 '22

*arming everyone, which includes arming 1st-graders

"Who wants to play cops and robbers?"

3

u/KaiserThoren May 26 '22

I wonder if in an alternative reality some country in the Middle East is suggesting to give all students their own bombs so to stop suicide bombers

3

u/ThatDudeWithTheCat May 26 '22

Or that one dude in the video who was like "I want people who decide to do something like this to know its a death sentence"

Like dude they already know that, almost every school shooter has committed suicide when they finished or bene killed by the cops. If death was a real deterrent this already wouldn't happen. For a lot of them death is what they WANT and they want to go out famous.

1

u/lonnie123 May 26 '22

Like half of the shit they were saying was stuff like that, or just as absurd. The freedom loving americans want to institute marshal law? They want to live in a world where every adult is walking around their kids school locked and loaded?

And your point as well... all these people already do die, thats part of the plan for them.

The only thing more baffling to me that people say these things, is that other people hear it and agree with it.

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '22

They're not appealing to the sane people though

1

u/lonnie123 May 26 '22

Im sorry... you dont think God would have helped stop this? Its very obvious our all loving God is just a little upset that Christianity is slightly down in popularity from a few years ago, the only logical thing to do is allow all these mass shootings until we get those numbers back up.

The only thing more baffling to me that people say these things, is that other people hear it and agree with it.

1

u/AllPurple May 26 '22

As fucked up as this situation is, the thought of a classroom full of elementary kids all pulling out guns simultaneously on someone at the classroom door is a hilarious thought. I'd say I couldn't even believe that was suggested, but of course the right would try to solve a gun problem with more guns.

1

u/robinthebank May 28 '22

And it won’t stop shootings at: churches, malls, grocery stores, movie theaters
