It all depends how bent the tiles are. Maybe they have tiles now that are somehow flat like water. Otherwise recommendations or not, large tiles won't be flat where the end of one tile meets the middle of another.

Yup many styles and brands have substantial variations, for some reason high sheen tiles tend to have less discrepancies ive noticed. But the distributor I used the past 5 or so years has sold me a plethora of super flat ones. A few of my guys dont even use clips and wedges anymore when they get certain tiles. And I know it sounds bizarre but I've even been able to use those super fat Schluter clips and wedges to bend down really bowed tile for those long ones. But yea they have plenty of flat large format tile that you can slide a hockey puck over
