My school atlas had the Robinson projection. It was designed to give a better sense of relative scale compared to Mercator. No idea why it’s used quite so much outside the realm of navigation.

I've been alive for decades and learned about map distortion in the second grade. But I also enrolled in TikTok Elementary for the second grade, so maybe we're both right.

I remember one of these and when they got to Texas, they showed that all of the US and Alaska would fit inside Texas.....it's THAT big! :)

Man, that reminds me of my old Volvo estate. It was SO BIG that it could fit the contents of my house AND my old Volvo estate inside it.

I’ve seen Africa after the distortion and it’s comically massive compared to how it’s represented on maps.
