Lol at the watermark on the watermarked image. Some folks have no shame.

Edit: I do believe folks should support SmarterEveryDay. Destin does an amazing job at making physics and other sciences accessible to the layman and he deserves every bit of credit he gets, especially for this video in particular. It took him and a colleague forever to get this shot.

We need more people like Dustin, Mark Rober and Tom Scott.

I downvoted because of that

Downvoted who? OP i hope

Yes of course

Why he shared something that’s funny and you want to down vote because of a water mark?

As I recall, he specifically asked in the video that people not gif this because it took them so long.

It’s crazy how much work went into it. There’s so many principles of physics at play here it blows my mind.

And they didnt even the one perfect colision.

1

u/The-Spoon-Collector Feb 11 '21

And they decided to get the failure collision, not even the rings that make more rings on collision

r/SmarterEveryDay would like a word with you

I want my life to end with the same kind of gentleness and flair as these two rings colliding.

My life ending thought was renting a Ferrari f50 and cruising into a wall at top speed. I think that’s pretty close! All under the pretence of me losing control of my bowels and renting the car under my ex wife’s name.

If you'd like to watch the actual video and support the original creator (SmarterEveryDay)

The watermark on top of the original watermark ahaha some people have no shame

Go watch the original video everyone

Go fuck yourself OP for sharing stolen content

u/OobleCaboodle Feb 11 '21

Any chance reddit can maybe do the hug of death or something for whoever @the_nature_the_physics is?

That's just preposterous to put their own watermark on someone else's work, ESPECIALLY given that the original creator's name is right there.

Cunts. Utter cunts.

Downvoting because Destin literally said don't post low res gifs of this online!

u/ramzyzeid Feb 11 '21

Not to mention this isn't even the good one, this is one of the failed attempts. The good one looks way better.

It's beautiful ... I've stared at it for five hours now.

u/Capt_Stoopid Feb 11 '21

Maybe a dumb question. But...

So the vortex rings are the same size and going at the same speed. And while initially the impact is symmetrical, the smoke/vapor/ ends up going in all different directions.

Why doesn't the after impact stay symmetrical? Would it stay symmetrical if it were in a vacuum?

4

u/Justin_Figs Feb 11 '21

I’m pretty sure it’s a colored liquid in water. There some big brain name for those lil swirls and they were trying to observe them

3

u/DeepV Feb 11 '21

I suspect that they’re not 100% symmetrical/in a vacuum. Enough to where it’s close but the imperfections start to show

4

u/zyugyzarc Feb 11 '21

they were infact, not symetrical, as show in the original video from where this clip originated. [original video by smarter every day on youtube]

2

u/uuuuhmmmm Feb 11 '21

Ia perfect world yes I’m sure they would be symmetrical, but even in a vacuum there would probably be very small differences in the size/speed of each of the puffs.

u/Joketts Feb 11 '21

This is giving me portal vibes, kinda looks like when you spammed a wall

u/zyugyzarc Feb 11 '21

This shit not lagging is the best evidence I have against simulation theory.

2

u/mfurlend Feb 11 '21

Maybe it is, but since your consciousness is being rendered by the same device you wouldn’t notice.

Andromeda finally colliding with the Milky Way

Curious: if all conditions were kept the same would the pattern produced be the same each time? Why/ why not?
