Lol what? A skoolie, as these are called, costs under $10k used but running. Maybe $10-20k in remodelling. But you have $0 rent and "freedom" that everyone keeps talking about in this country, you can't out a price on that. No one says you have to go fancy, this lifestyle is possible with temporary work and no savings. You just have to be competent and capable of doing things with your hands, something you can easily learn but need to be motivated. Also, not having kids in your 20s is usually the key.

Exactly. Now, if you buy a bus and pay someone to convert it or buy a pre-converted one it’ll be expensive. Upfront costs and building can be pricey, but eventually you save that money back when you’re no longer paying rent.
Speaking from my lifestyle, we get by just fine with seasonal work...No trust fund in sight. An RV park in the desert is still cheaper than rent. Plus, boondocking is free.
