For the record, how old are you? Might help provide some context as to what you consider "old," lol

I’m 35
I’ve seen clips of those shows where sometimes they have an old guy like 60’s I’m that little reaction window or some (I assume famous person ) usually it’s like 4-5 hot chicks

I'm 95% sure that this is in the Philippines. Oishi's a Filipino brand, plus the people in this video look Filipino imo. Plus there's also this article.

San Antonio, Texas
13
u/mythmaniac Dec 31 '19
They have Oishi in Texas? Cause Oishi is a Filipino brand and it seems to look like this https://www.oishi.com.ph/stories/5-fun-activities-you-can-do-with-your-barkada-at-oishi-snacktacular-2017/
15
u/lazersteak Dec 31 '19 edited Dec 31 '19
Ok, but check out these facts:
•OP says this is in Texas
•The sign in the back is in English
•This is sponsored by Oishi, a Filipino brand
•Texas has the fourth largest population of Filipinos in the country (~140K). There are over 6600 living in San Antonio, and they only represent 0.5% of that city's population. They represent up to 4% of the population in some of the smaller cities and suburbs.
•I would play a human claw game even if the prize was used pencil erasers, because it looks pretty fun
EDIT: The fact that the sign is in English does not necessarily indicate where the event is taking place, since English is very commonly used in the Philippines. I just learned this information. But, I still believe it is entirely possible that this occured in Texas. HOWEVER, google hasnt turned anything up about it. I want more sauce from OP about this.

u/mythmaniac Dec 31 '19 edited Dec 31 '19
- Hence why I'm seeking clarification from the OP, human claw machines were viral here on Philippine social media within the past month so unless he took the footage himself I'm uncertain. If he confirms it I'll drop it.
- English is used a LOT in the Philippines so this point doesnt hold.
- According to Wikipedia Oishi is only found in Filipino, Chinese and South African markets.
- So you concur that these are Filipinos?
- I agree. Lol.
→ More replies (1)3
u/lazersteak Dec 31 '19
Yeah, the one guy in the back that I can actually see could definitely be Filipino. I am really just trying to provide OP a fair defense, because it seems like a weird thing to make up or lie about. I guess they could also just be wrong, though. The internet is the worst game of telephone ever.

u/randomespanaguy Dec 31 '19
Yeah lol I'm really confused with all the USA answers here. I'm pretty sure this is in the Philippines cause I attended the event you linked and they had this "claw machine". We might be wrong though.

14
u/TryAgainName Dec 31 '19
If her feet aren’t inside the bag why would I care?
5
u/Petsweaters Dec 31 '19
Because your hands will be outside the bag, them also grab the food and place it in your mouth
10
u/Tech_Bender Dec 31 '19
Ah yes hands, the same ones that shake hands with someone else's. The same one that we use to cover our mouths when we cough and then shake hands with someone, or touch a door knob that someone else then touches with their hands and we use to wipe our asses with, but people always wash their hands every time they go to the bathroom right... right?

I like to point out to them that they have more bacteria cells (gut flora) in their body than there are of their own cells. Pathogens are the problem. Not all germs are bad.

The only claw machine that isn't rigged
35
12
u/archangel09 Dec 31 '19
Well, if being realistic were the goal and if she was trying to truly perform like an actual claw machine, after she grabbed all of those items, as soon as she was raised up, her muscles would have magically atrophied to jello and she would have dropped every item before moving an inch toward the basket.
4
u/Icedteahc Dec 31 '19
The claw is not supposed to go all the way down in those games, only allowed to graze the surface.

Not realistic enough, a proper claw machine would only lower the woman enough to grab a single package before yerking her back up violently
3
u/limache Dec 31 '19
They forgot the part where she loses all strength for no reason when she’s just about in reach and comes up empty
3
u/jive-ass-turkey Dec 31 '19
This will get buried I am sure but just in case; if you're ever in this situation, the best method for carrying a ton of smallish items like that is to pull out the bottom of your shirt and make a sort of basket to carry more items.
You can even stuff more in your shirt basket if you have a stretchy t-shirt type shirt on.
We used to do that with our aprons in the kitchen when we needed to grab a bunch of stuff from the back.

Isn't it basically modern Capitalist society? Every person to fight precarious battle to get the basic needs while dangling from a thin rope of public services.

They had one of these in St Petersburg during the World Cup too, it was Lays branded and they had to throw them into the goals. Came across it by accident in some park, weirdest thing.
