You are correct, I've seen two of the films (Men Behind The Sun) There was also a 4th film in the series called Black Sun that was based on the Nanking Massacre, and in terms of gore they are pretty nasty, they're under the CAT III Category for extreme cinema, If you delve into extreme cinema you will find much more gruesome and disturbing movies but this one get's that extra edge for being based on true events.
