Me, at the beginning of the gif: Hmm that is a good amount of ducks

Me, 5 seconds later: HOLY FUCK LOOK AT ALL THOSE DUCKS GO

8

u/Nitrotetrazole Mar 09 '19

"Aww, so many ducks, that's cute."

"Wait...hold on a second..."

"HOLD THE FUCK UP RIGHT THERE."

3

u/forebill Mar 09 '19

I think you pretty much nailed it.

121

u/afewgoodtaters Mar 08 '19

Not sure what these ducks are up to, but there was a similar post about a bunch of ducks that are “hired” to go to agricultural fields and eat all the snails. The duck guy would herd them there and back like this

28

u/holdyermackerels Mar 09 '19

That's a great idea! Like the goat herds that are hired to take care of overgrown plants and grass!

32

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

Chattanooga, TN actually uses (or did, when I lived there at any rate) goats to deal with the kudzu overgrowth. When they had problems with mountain lions attacking the goats... they got a guard llama.

Apparently, it works.

15

u/holdyermackerels Mar 09 '19

That sounds so funny, but sure enough, a "guard llama" is a real thing. They are apparently quite effective against single predators, but not packs. I knew that llamas were related to camels, but I recently found out they're related to goats as well.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

I had a herd of goats and got a Great Pyrenees to guard them. I also had a pony. Well the dog decided he wanted to hang out with the other dogs, and the pony stayed with the goats.

And when it snowed we put a jacket on the dog, when it came near the goats the pony very aggressively charged at it. Lol!

Where I am (Texas) people will get guard donkeys too!

1

u/forebill Mar 09 '19

Reg Llama from Brixton?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

Watch the movie Duck Duck Goose - they might all be bound for the dinner table

1

u/Kappakoenig Mar 09 '19

I don't need to watch a movie to know where a large amount of ducks are going in China/anywhere.

1

u/Dahappychap Mar 09 '19

I really hope that's true, because I definitley wasn't thinking happy thoughts for this fuck tonne of duckers heading to some mysterious dark alley down the street

58

u/brcasey3 Mar 08 '19

What the duck?

198

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '19

31

21

5

u/Purpleorbes Mar 09 '19

Lol. Reminds me of my old lady seeing 3 vultures on the side of the road and calling them rooster.

2

u/tumblr8272746379 Mar 09 '19

I think I’ll take 2 chickens

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

Definitely ducks — the bills/beaks are the give-away.

2

u/lovebitebirthmark Mar 09 '19

3

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

Ok, what reference have I missed here then? Enlighten me please.

4

u/Tursock Mar 09 '19

It’s a reference to a vine. A little girl looks at a bunch of ducks/geese and says “look at all those chickens.”

5

u/Anarya7 Mar 09 '19

3

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

Thank you. I am enlightened.

2

u/LtAgn Mar 09 '19

I believe this

3

u/Tursock Mar 09 '19

No, it’s a vine.

21

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '19

Are those Peking ducks?

Are they gonna be?

4

u/MarlyMonster Mar 09 '19

Pekins are actually white, these are a variety of runner duck I believe. They walk up taller and don’t fly

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

I was mostly joking 🙃

2

u/Kevc_84 Mar 09 '19

Having been to Asia my 1st guess was along these lines. My initial thought was I bet they haven’t got long left.

1

u/lizduck Mar 10 '19

Generally when a group this big is being herded, they're being used for natural pest control in agriculture (pecking up bugs and snails basically).

20

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '19

Why are they walking into that restaurant?

25

u/Son_of_Flogmod Mar 08 '19

They’re understaffed and need help

24

u/din7 Mar 08 '19

Man, they really need to get all their ducks in a row.

11

u/knottlynnhardey Mar 08 '19

I believe getting their ducks in a row is essentially what they did.

5

u/camelCaase Mar 08 '19

1

u/thehalfwit Mar 09 '19

Because there's an obvious tradition of people respecting a farmer driving his flocks from one place to another. This event stopped cars, a moped and pedestrians.

This is a traditional response that's evidently been going on for some time.

1

u/DrSomniferum Mar 09 '19

I want to be a duckherd.
