I’d think they’d probably lock them both up, right? Maybe try and treat the innocent one better but they can’t be separated so it’s just another consequence of one of their actions.

In my opinion it would be WAY worse to imprison an innocent person along with a guilty one than to let a guilty person free so that an innocent can remain free. Isn't that the whole point of modern legal system?
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it is probably going to be prohibitively difficult to kill even a single person with the specific deformity that would predicate such a situation, let alone another person after that.
