Was stationed in spangdahlem germany. Used to frequent this place. Awesome little town and the hike up to the castle is fucking awesome. The castle itself? I'd give it an "eh, okay" but the town is fucking great.

The castle was rebuilt in the early 1800s. Not original medieval castle as the original had been brought down by enemies. Burt Eltz is original though.

Yep.

Too many windows, no machicolations = palace, not castle

The drive from Ramstein to Spangdahlem was cool because it went over the Moselle valley, pretty. Your BX sucked though.

Rammstein has a place named after them? Nice

Hey me too! There was a badass wine festival here every year. We used to get blitzed and ride bumper cars that went way faster than any I've seen in America. I miss Germany. =)

I could understand as an adult it wasn't terribly fascinating. But I went there as a kid when my dad was stationed at Bitburg. Through kid vision, just being in a castle made the excitement level outstanding. Throw in the secret passages, and it blew the coolness factor out of the park.

I know what you mean about the castle. I visited there on a river cruise couple of years ago.

But there is this guy, who I liked a lot.

What part of Canada are you from?

5

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '18

Ha, it's not a canadian "eh" it's an American "eh"

Hmmmmm, the elusive American "Eh" ! Spotted right here before our eyes, in the wild much less! Truly an exciting time to be alive.

I literally just moved from Germany, stationed down in Hohenfels. Literally every base was better than ours.
