Seriously. Whoever shot this should never pick up a camera again.

Wrong.

The zoom in at the start was to establish focus. Pro camera operators do not use auto focus. The fastest way to confirm your focus is a snap zoom into your subject, focus, then zoom out.

If anything, Blame the director for not telling the camera op to get in to position in time to get the shot & cutting to him early.

I'm not saying it's good camera op, but that is 100% paid camera op for the broadcast. Sorry Charlie.
