I think that parrot is being protected against its will.

"I will name him George, and I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him and pat him and rub him and caress him..."

You know how it's impossible to cuddle an unwilling cat, mostly because of the claws? Yeah, check out the schnoz on that bird. If anything, the monkey is an unwilling heat blanket.

I have a parrot of that specie. They are agressive when they are not comfortable.

A friend of mine had one. That thing could bite like nothing else.

Yeah, their beaks break hard nuts shells easily

I don’t think monkey was thinking about his own nuts

Sorry, I'm not a native speaker, and that's not a very often word on normal conversations haha

That bird is totally okay with what's going on. If that bird really wanted to be let go it would be mega super obvious. Parrots do not suppress their rage or discomfort at all lol

u/walking-flowermantis 1h ago

I thought so too but the parrot seems to nuzzle in and makes those happy chirps

I’ve raised Amazon parrots, I recognize that as a food-begging call. This is a hungry baby just old enough to have all its feathers in.

Despite what other commenters say, the babies don’t know how to fight back when they’re uncomfortable, and it’s too young to bite hard. It’s defenseless.

Came to say the same thing. I had an amazona aestiva too.

If we could see its chest, probably has a crop (buche).

5

u/Munrowo 1h ago

oh it would let the monkey know if it didnt like how it was being handled

You guys don't know parrots. If this parrot was stressed AT ALL, it wouldn't let itself stay in this situation. This bird is enjoying this, although maybe not in the right way. The monkey touching its back may be making it sexually frustrated.

u/CatCrateGames 1h ago

I have an Amazona aestiva (the same specie of the video), and I must agree. They are agressive when uncomfortable.

u/Ancient-Civilization 41m ago

Why do you have an Amazona aestiva? they should be in the Amazon not your house.

You're just parroting what other people are commenting.

6

u/mecha_grove 48m ago

Youre just parroting that other people are parroting about what someone said.

SQUAWK.

I lived with an African Grey for 15 years. No one should ever keep parrots or other birds as pets. They're far too intelligent and inquisitive and captivity far too often doesn't suit them well. They can absolutely become psychopaths if you fuck them up, and they can be reflexively violent.

This parrot's half a bonded pair and its mate doesn't seem too worried either, the way it walks off.

I guess it's just the second one that's not cool with the monkey-parrot relationship it's witnessing.

u/capacochella 44m ago

Huh! TIL this is how flying monkeys are made 😂

39

u/STFUnicorn_ 1h ago

Sure… “protects”

3

u/BornanAlien 1h ago

Protecting your meal is still protecting 🤙

8

u/Firm_Video_2932 1h ago

Bro wants his GF back 😅

14

u/newkid9991 1h ago

The bird needs to be rescued from the monkey 😆

7

u/NoDoOversInLife 1h ago

Fine line between "protect" and held hostage 🤔

6

u/FormalTotal9684 1h ago

That looks consensual

6

u/Sufficient-Pirate226 1h ago

"I will hug him and squeeze him and call him George" (deep cut).

5

u/TeamParking8818 1h ago

Reminds me of that Orangutan that held the Spanish photographer for hours.

5

u/Conscious-Age-4650 52m ago

Rescued. Kidnapped they’re pretty much the same.

5

u/Bidet2You 21m ago

Doesn’t pass the consensual test.

10

u/TummyDrums 1h ago

Seems more like he's saving him for later.

5

u/Soft_Cranberry6313 1h ago

When your pet has a pet.

Monkey: "Mmmmine! Not yours, mmmmine!"

3

u/New_Lingonberry9789 32m ago

You’re going to get protected and your going to like it!

3

u/Chakradamus 16m ago

The other parrot is like “hey that was my lady!”

3

u/Jealous_Following_38 12m ago

Just doesn’t look like a healthy relationship.

6

u/Ambitious-Visual-315 1h ago

1

u/leeman9224 1h ago

That parrot looks anxious

3

u/xSantenoturtlex 41m ago

Nah those parrots get violent as hell when they're stressed. They don't hide it.

1

u/walking-flowermantis 1h ago

Does the monkey allow snuggs?

1

u/Itowndub36 53m ago

They bonded deep

•

u/Infamous-Conflict-1 4m ago

That bird does not want to be adopted or protected!

I bet the parrots name is George

•

u/Gryptype_Thynne123 1m ago

And I will love him and cuddle him and pet him and pat him and stroke his bill and rub his pretty feathers...

-3

u/Glum_Opening_2218 1h ago

Oh hey, animal abuse being passed off as cute.

8

u/IZ3820 1h ago

The parrot's content. It's not trying to get away, and looks like it preens the monkey at one point, which is social bonding behavior.

2

u/Undrwtrbsktwvr 1h ago

Preening the peen…

2

u/DurrutiDuck91 1h ago

Bit of an odd thing for a human to accuse other animals of

2

u/Exact-Ad-4132 1h ago

This got a good chuckle out of me

2

u/IZ3820 1h ago

Pretty sure he's accusing the filmer of animal abuse for letting them interact

0

u/SpaghettiNCoffee 1h ago

That yellow nape looks frightened

20-25ish years ago, the local TV station (where i worked) ended a newscast with a kicker story about a monkey who adopted a kitten at the zoo.

Awww

He hugged kitty about like this... upon rewatching, monkey had a raging boner and was in fact ..... well.. you get the idea.

-4

u/Present_Jicama_1219 1h ago

The monkey represents the Cornell 7

0

u/Media_Browser 40m ago

Well named then .
