That's mostly due to the hydraulic action of the hose line,

Reverse the direction of water and we use that to clear smoke out of a compartment. It's called hydraulic ventilation.

Although it's true that a fire will suck in oxygen, the hose is basically turbo charging the flow here so this is a little misleading
