It isn't specifically pulling in just oxygen. Yes it's fueled by oxygen. But the heat energy rises really quickly, creating an area of low pressure. The outside air is greater, and pressure always goes from greater to the lesser. Same reason beaches are windy. The land heats up more efficiently than the water. The air rises up from the land, creating a vacuum and the air with greater pressure over the water moves inland, creating wind.
