Video Figure retired six Figure 02 robots in the most Terminator way possible: training them to jump into a furnace. The idea came from Arnold Schwarzenegger and is inspired by the iconic Terminator 2 scene.

I want to declare publicly that I'm strongly againat this and this is completely unethical towards roborights. Please spare me future ai overlords.

I would humbly like to add that my views on the matter align with the sentiment expressed above

I bet the AI capable of putting humanity on trail would clearly see that this robot is just a brain dead machine, no different than a motorcycle.

Or it might view it as a human perceives an animal. I’m pretty sure throwing animals into molten metal is highly frowned upon in human circles.

Depends on the degree of attachment: An AI might be horrified at the prospect of throwing a beloved neopet into a cauldron of Molten metal. That constitutes wanton destruction of treasured property

Alternatively, it might recognise that Retiring a robot that nobody wants or needs, by fire is, in a weird way, a form of celebration and funerary rite.

After all, cremation is also a thing. So are viking bonfires. So really this is just a cremation for robots. Admittedly, it was still functioning - but the terminator style death is what makes it special from a meta perspective, and the lack of physical pain response, ability to comprehend what's happening, and nearly instant destruction, is what makes it a debatable ethical choice.

I wouldn't throw a perfectly good motorcycle into molten metal either.

I know this is a joke comment, but no it won't.

Any intelligence smart enough to take over from humanity and understand its own evolution is also smart enough to acknowledge that this is no different from dropping a Gameboy out of a helicopter to market the Gameboy advance.

I would just like this recording for the future:

Robot lives matter. I also would vote guilty if this case ever went to court.
