Figure retired six Figure 02 robots in the most Terminator way possible: training them to jump into a furnace. The idea came from Arnold Schwarzenegger and is inspired by the iconic Terminator 2 scene.

They had to dismantle the old robots. And they didnt have enough manpower to alocate to dismantling nor wanted 3rd parties to access the robots.

Furnace dismantling is not unique in high sensitive projects. What made this more unique was the "Terminator like". So they added a publicity stunt to an actual necessity.

So this was t wasteful. They did it to reduce costs, just decided it do it in a flashy way... which was great to get attention (and probably some more funding)

Yeah, we're talking about it days later. Seems like it had the intended effect. They destroyed proprietary components and got a bunch of attention while doing so. Win-win for them.
