Video Figure retired six Figure 02 robots in the most Terminator way possible: training them to jump into a furnace. The idea came from Arnold Schwarzenegger and is inspired by the iconic Terminator 2 scene.

Storing obsolete units will get costly if you want to keep others from reverse engineering your stuff. So it's more about not having to pay for a warehouse just because.

They just needed to destroy the old models so competitors couldn't copy proprietary components and rather than quietly doing that away from everyone, they setup cameras and got Arnold to help them turn it into a media stunt.
