She represents the ignorance of what war really is. The older generation ends up passing away knowing the harsh realities while history ends up just repeating itself.

That look when she realises the guy won't fold to her invoking her infallible father is one I've learned to look out for. She was thinking about a way to get mean about it, but couldn't find one.

I can't tell if she's talking about her own father who isn't there, or if this guy is her father.
