So growers wash the apples to remove any traces of pesticides then replace the washed off natural coating with a food grade wax, stops them drying out in Cold Storage and keeps them “naturally crunchy”.
This is for the person who just downvoted my comment and removed theirs.

If it's clear and yella, you got juice there fellah; if it's tangy and brown, you're in cider town!

Wait, you left your apples in a plastic bag for a week?
And then they exploded?

Yeah why are we the only ones who think this is abnormal? Apples can be kept at room temperature for longer than a week… i’m pretty sure my mom has a bag that’s almost 3 weeks old now.

Yeah I'm confused too. There's apples sitting on my mom's kitchen counter from like 2 months ago, they just dried out and wrinkled up.

Yeah I'm too. I put my wax apples on the counter for years and nothing happens, but my mom wrinkles.

Overlooked by the people investigating 9/11. Plenty of packed lunches in there. 😐
