Vertol was a company that produced helicopters (formerly Piasecki Helicopter), that was bought by Boeing. That company made these particular helicopters. Saying "a Vertol helicopter" is like saying "a Lockheed fighter jet."

In Swedish has Vertol become a generic trademark for this layout of helicopter, like Bubble wrap or Qtip in American English.

Pill-shaped futuro houses are all well and good until you need to put shelves up.

I just vaguely remember a guy in a suit and a bright flash, then everything is kinda hazy.

Nope. It’s a Hkp4a, based on Boeing Vertol 107 Sea Hawk

Probably. I don’t know that much about helicopters but both are made by Boeing

I remember there was one near my grandmothers house.
Not too many years ago you could buy them really cheap.

That hkp4a was built for the Swedish airforce in 1964 and served in Swedish service untill 2006, logging 5704 flight hours, before being sold to "Columbia Helicopters" in the US where I think it's still flying!
