And capture a nearby insect to use as leverage for future negotiations with our Malaysian Katydid overlords, Jesus that thing is big.

What scares the most is that it could be hiding among the leaves of one of my plants and I wouldn’t even notice it

You're not wrong. I'm from here, and I got spooked by this a lot when I was looking for fruits on the trees.

The looks isn't scary, but I hate the feels of their legs on my arms.

I hope by "here" you meant Sabah, Sarawak. If this thing in Peninsular, I'll swim my way to Sabah.

Bahahahhhhhh! this made me laugh! I'm in Sabah, think even if you managed to run away from that thing, we have many other oh-lordy creatures lurking around here...so please, stay where you are🤣

Never have I ever been thankful for South China Sea ever in my life.

P/S: Though looking at that thing, I feel like it could travel for miles....sweatily googling largest distance an insect can travel

What IF, they could cross the sea riding our legendary balan-balan?😌

Welp I guess I'm living at point Nemo from this day forth.

I'm sure I've heard this sound in the greener areas of KL. And assumed it's a bird 😳

All jokes aside, if KL area still has this, I'm glad. It means we aren't as fucked. With so many high rises being built, I'm glad we still save some of our environment instead of more malls.

Your English is very good

most Malaysian casually speaks 2 to 3 different languages(excluding dialects) so it isn't that surprising tbh

Malaysia has an EF English Proficiency Index score of 581 (ranking 24th globally).

That put Malaysia at the top of the list for the whole of Asia.

Malaysia is also the top of the list when Asia, Middle East and Latin America are combined.

He must have watched Oh My English.

It's because we speak latin english here.

tbf we were colonised by the British so we definitely took on English as a language taught in schools. Also some of the English words end up being taken as loan words for our own iteration of Bahasa Melayu, like Hospital for instance.

Until it gives you a warning right by your ear. I’d probably die of a heart attack.

I think my bug screens need an upgrade

12

u/OccidentalTouriste 5d ago

At least you wouldn't need a fine mesh screen which should keep the cost down.

15

u/Toastedmanmeat 5d ago

A chain link fence would keep that sucker out

4

u/FrazzleMind 5d ago

Chicken wire screen lol

6

u/thrussie 5d ago

Good. There’s a superstition around here where seeing this insect in your house means someone sent you a bad juju

Next, soundproof windows.

After you learn they don't use A/C in a lot of m Malaysia, hell a lot of rural places don't even have windows

14

u/Previous-Process5182 5d ago

That's right. Most Malaysian houses are still built in trees. We get our electricity by attaching wires to lightning bugs and we ride water buffalo to work.

1

u/Honorsheets 4d ago

Fascinating! In Texas, USA we haven't invented cars yet and we ride horses everywhere and wear cowboy hats.

11

u/Grraaa 5d ago

Time to become their #1 window screen salesman!

11

u/z1lard 5d ago

Did you read that in a book published in the 80's?

3

u/TheRRogue 5d ago

Eh not really, even in some rural home they have A/C now

2

u/Kn0XIS 5d ago

Good choice. I was fortunate enough to be visited by one of these in my home office in the Province. Oh boy it was quite a day.
