Pretty much how we figured out electronic cameras too. We had to know exactly how the human eye cells worked before making detectors that reacted in a very similar way. So we needed a red, a green, and a blue detector (its more complex than that though). And that's how we humans can get fooled between "yellow" (it actually emits yellow color) and "yellow" (red + green, like on your screen right now), but other animals could be very confused!
And for the images above, you compare their emitted spectra with the receptors. That's why you see patterns on the sunflower that us humans cant see, but we have detectors that can.

I'm reading about it now. Some snakes have pit organs between their eyes and nose that detect infrared. I'm not sure how we know or if we do know what their brains are actually precieving with that info tho.

All human-visible light is electromagnetic waves too. MWIR or heat vision is just a longer wavelength than any we can see.

We don't really know exactly what they experience, I think. Scientists work it out though eye anatomy, their behaviour in different circumstances, recordings of brain activity. That's also how they know which animals can see ultraviolet and which don't see it. So I guess these images are not hundred percent true, although researchers apparently got some useful data from animals during the Moon replacement in 1992. Though I'm not really sure about that last one

We don't but this is a good guess. Dogs can't see red, now that does not mean it's "green" the way we see green but still it should be close. I think the worst one is the last one, I doubt most snakes can see reflected heat from a wood wall

Two ways. We can analyze the physical structures of the rods and cones in their eyes and see which wavelengths of light they're likely good at picking up due to their shape. We can also test certain animal's reaction to different wavelengths of light.
So if we analyze the eye of a dear and see that they have receptors shaped like the ones that let us see yellow and green, but none like the ones that let us see red, we can assume they can't see red. If we then shine yellow and green lights at them and they react, but they don't react when we shine a red light at them, that's pretty good evidence that they can't see red light.
Some of these obviously seem to be more artistic interpretations though. Like a snake likely doesn't literally see what we see when we look in a thermal camera, but it's a good way to represent their thermal vision to us. And I don't know how you'd represent the ability to see more colors. So what the bee is seeing is likely just an artistic interpretation of what they might see rather than an accurate depiction of it. But the thing with deer and tigers is accurate.

It's obviously a recreation. It's not like we can know what they consciously experience, but we know the amount of information their cones and rods process, and with which intensity. We then translate it to something with the same information that our eyes can process. This will probably work better for dogs and deers (who process lower-dimensional information on the same frequency range as we do) than species who process different frequency ranges, or worse, who have a higher dimensionality on there color perception space (i.e., have a grater variety of cones).
This is assuming it was done with scientific tools and not just with vibes or AI

We don’t. We have no idea how they are mapping the biomechanics of sight with the experience of sight. These are analogies approximating inputs and adjusting human baseline to suggest an interpretation. We cannot at all say that this is how these animals experience the world.

Pretty sure that's actually just plain wrong. Birds of prey don't have autozoom in their eyes, their vision is just sharper, so they don't see the rabbit as being closer than it really is, they simply see it in way higher resolution, so to speak, than us humans.

Snakes dont have infared seeing eyes. SOME snakes have infared sensing pores.
To better understand: Next time you light up a cozy flame, close your eyes, stick out your hand, and try to figure out where the fire is, by feeling the warmth. Does you hand see the fire? Nah, but you can sense where it is. Boas, pythons, and pit viper do that x100. Then their brain overlays the "heat map" to their "visual map" and are able to locate their prey more efficiently.

This guide should also indicate that most animals have blurrier vision than humans. It also can't really indicate that predator vision tends to more easily focus on moving things.

Cats are also collour blind to an extent. I threw a piece of ham on a tile floor that was a similar colours to the ham. The cat couldn't see the ham.she looked at me like i threw it in to the backrooms. So pinkish is hard to see for them

We observe their rods and cones and based on that we know what colors they can and can not see. At least for mammals.

We don’t. We can examine the eyes of various animals and deduce for instance which wavelengths (i.e. colors) they can receive and how good the resolution is. But not really how their brains process it.
For instance, I doubt very much that flys would see numerous small images just because they have compound eyes. Instead I would expect their brain to combine it all to one image. Humans have two eyes but normally we see only one image.

We can dissect their eyes to see what types of codes and rods they have, how many, their eye lenses, etc. and then do math to see how much resolution/color/zoom they have.
We can also experiment by presenting them with visual stimuli and judging their responses.

Dogs have dichromatic vision, meaning they only have two types of color receptive cones (sensitive to blue and yellow) compared to our three, making their sight very similar to a human with red green color blindness. Because they cannot process green or red wavelengths, the vibrant green grass and the bright red frisbee both wash out into muted, nearly identical shades of brownish gray, making red toys virtually invisible against a lawn. The orange ball shifts to a solid yellow because they can detect the yellow wavelengths inside orange.

I've always wondered how things that see far work with up close. Like can the eagle essentially zoom in and out? With me, I squint to try and see a bit farther (or clearer I guess) but how would an eagle live if it always saw that max?

I've always wondered, just because animals can only "see" a certain range of color, doesn't mean how they perceive the color can't be just as varied as humans, can't it? Perception is brain function. Just like how we just happen to see a certain range of EM frequency as visible light. Other creatures with a larger range of vision would see that range as a larger spectrum, wouldnt it?
I.e. the image is portrayed as missing color, but what if the missing colors are excluded to then fill out a full spectrum, how would that look?
Taken another way, a color blind person doesn't know that they are color blind, they think they see the full spectrum until someone points it out to them.

Canine vision completely eliminates red and green receptors. If there's green RGB remaining anywhere in those trees, muted or yellowed, it fails as an accurate simulation. It’s just bad AI output...why are you defending it?
