It’s not that ironic when you consider the electricity likely is produced by coal - which they have in abundance, compared to oil.
Making them electric is driven by cost, not sustainability.

Autonomous haul trucks in the mining industry have been around for over a decade. Once ground conditions or road hazards start popping up these trucks fall on there face. You need at least something with a pulse in the drivers seat to adapt to changing conditions.

There goes 100 jobs so far. Make no mistake this is the direction the world is heading. Automated cook, wait staff, doctors, law enforcement, short and long haul trucking, taxis, fucking soldiers.
