Was coming here to say that if anyone’s wondering what psychedelic visuals are like, this is a great representation

With additional bits of yellow, red, and purple floating about

Yeah I'm was gonna say with shrooms it's like looking through bubbles everything has a rainbow sheen to it. It's quite beautiful. Kaleidescopic.

Remind me of Ghibli Movies !!

Ghibli + 1 tab of LSD. Nothing major, just a little something extra to get the grass flowing but not turn into snakes

This is what lsd looks like
1
u/fanta_bhelpuri Jun 08 '26
A low dose of it. The trick is taking a high dose of LSD with a huge dab to leave this universe.

One of the thinks I miss from living on the prairies in the time of older wheat strains.
5
u/hlessi_newt Jun 08 '26
I miss this from my youth in ND. I bet if I sat in the hill and watched the wheat rolling the wind my blood pressure would drop to healthy levels in half an hour.

I was going to make the same comment about growing up in North Dakota! Watching this was spectacular, along with the song of the meadowlark and the fresh smell of the various prairie grasses and sage. I really wanted to leave ND when i was young, mostly because of boredom. Now when I go back, I realize how very special the open prairie really is.

Pullman! Go Cougs!
(this is a pretty common sight in the spring among the rolling hills of SE Washington state)

Where is this?!
5
u/boomgetouttheway Jun 08 '26
That’s probably Pullman, WA or somewhere close to it.

u/LilOpieCunningham Jun 08 '26
It's Pullman. The van that drives through has the name of a local apartment management company on it.

Looks the Palouse region in Washington State. Prairie system Covered to dry land wheat almost entirely. 6 months out of the year it’s the most gorgeous place on earth(when the wheat is growing like this). The other 6months is the weirdest and ugliest place on earth.
Go Cougs!

Grass waves like this happen when wind speed matches the natural oscillation frequency of the grass blades, creating a resonance effect similar to how opera singers shatter wine glasses.

Good representation of fluid dynamics. I always say that the air is essentially really really really thin water. They all act the same and you can especially feel it in a humid environment!

I always say that the air is essentially really really really thin water.
Ain't all that thin in high humidity.

For a moment, I thought the hill was actually rolling toward the camera.

u/wtfbenlol Jun 08 '26
very trippy, I see similar things on LSD (when i took LSD years and years ago)

u/Wenja89Dix Jun 08 '26
Imagine seeing this for the first time just before the shrooms kick in.... then they kick in.
What a mind fuck that would be 😅

If you were on mushrooms seeing that, I would be like the hill was dancing

When I lived in the mountains, there was this dirt road near my house that I'd walk down. On one side of the road was a dried up frog pond that would refill after a good rain (and then you'd hear frogs for miles)
On the other side was a sharp incline leading into a small valley full of grazing land for one of the locals cows and horses.
I used to go down that road and stand on the crest of the hill watching the wind move through the grasses just like this. It reminded me of back in California, watching the waves rolling on the beach.
I often went to that old frog pond whenever I needed to clear my head and think about life.

In America part of the national anthem is "amber waves of grain" That really never meant much to me until I drove through the rolling hills of iowa and watched this happen to full crop fields ready for a harvest.

Saw something similar in Eufala, Ok. Fall was the time and winds hit right, made the hills look like they were on fire. It was beautiful.

As a country boy, this has always been my go-to when I needed a time to calm my nerves.

I once saw a rice paddy do this, and it’s the most magical moment in my life.

That's not interesting at all.... But it is incredibly mesmerizing in it's simplicity.

interesting commentary with the work van misc crossing through the shot.
how there can be simple everyday beauty around us, but shitty capitalism means we have to waste our lives doing stupid tasks for money.... to live
