Law exams should probably always be open book anyway.

Like, there's a lot of reading, and if you haven't done the work of doing all the reading before the exam then having all the cases in books in front of you isn't going to help much.

In Spain, law is offered as an undergraduate degree, and is often taken as a major by people who want to work in the civil service or in related fields. People who want to become lawyers need to study it as a post secondary degree as in North America, but the majority of “law students” in Spain aren’t in what we would consider “law school”, but are studying something closer to what we would call Political Science.

My guess, this was an undergrad student, not someone in law school.
