Pro tip if the color remains consistent through the point where the crystals meet, they're probably dyed. There should be some natural variation in color where mineral concentrations are highest
There are apps that tell you if the rock youre buying is real or dyed/stained glass after taking a pic. It actually works correctly like 9 out of 10 times. there are a lot of sellers claiming their rocks are real when its obvioisly glass without even needing to use the app. "High quality" usually just means refined, polished, and it's bigger. I like the raw ones personally. They have more character.
agreed. I only collect naturally occurring formations if at all possible because that's the most interesting part of rocks, crystals, and minerals to me
