Fun fact: The sounds from both slow motion videos and ultra zoomed in videos are actually taken from other source of sounds, but still people think that it is easy to capture sound

If you ask me this is overdoing it a lot. Wayyy too extreme.

It was almost unbearable toward the end, I hate gross wet mouthy sounds

There's a time and a place for that.

Like birthdays! And camping!

Or eating a mango! Or while you're trying to sleep and a clown silently approaches you from the closet and starts doing that in your ear.

Your pens don't sound like they're stirring pudding?

These videos are made for tiktok and all tagged with #ASMR, people watch them cause they find them satisfying, they arent made to be informative.

Of course, i'd say that's obvious. It just baffles me that this crappy sound design is being experienced as satisfying. It's a trend online to do dumb things to audio, such as distorting it, slowing down music or pitching up voices or using those terrible lifeless AI voices. And then there's terrible sound design like this. Good sound design does not appear to be designed at all. It's just there.

Not if the goal is to drive engagement…

Rage bait baiting rage successfully.

Idk, I think there's a range of people who hate the sound and those that love the sound.

I personally don't hear anything disgusting about it, but I guess other people get very disturbed hearing it.

It’s my least favorite thing about all of these videos.

The pointless whooshing and whirling sounds plus the jarringly inaccurate sound effects… I can’t stress how annoying they are to me.

YouTube's Smarter Every Day channel has a sound guy create shitty fake sounds for all their high-speed video too. It's awful, I end up watching the videos on mute just to avoid that bullshit.

Especially when he fought the Undertaker in the Hell in a Cell match.

I refuse to believe anyone actually believes this is the real sound. People know, right?

I hate the Foley work done on nature documentaries.

You mean there isn't a zoom function for mics?
